:O Oh no. So raw intuition and critical awareness will be made into 1 button cuz too much stress is going on. We gotta press 1 button after another do you know how many Doritos and mtn dew we could eat meanwhile? I m really impressed we managed doing agroo combo for so long and storm eye xD. I m actually criyng and laughing at the same time now. Those are not the changes I was expecting and like.

I understood what Xeno was attempting to say, the problem lies more in how he says things. His online/youtube persona is very over-the-top, which I get the necessity of to a point, but it results in many viewers hearing the "volume" of the message and not the details of the content. So while his comments were meant to be pointed at specifics, what people heard and then repeated was "WAR Needs Crit Badly!". That coupled with the playing up of how WAR was "so much more complicated" and required "way more skill" and now we see the repercussions of that, even if such statements were really just a way of tooting one's own horn.

Honestly, I for the most part have no real problem with Xeno and from what I understand he is a really nice guy. I have more of a problem with the people that don't think for themselves and bandwagon and latch onto parroting hyperbole. I just wish Xeno would be more mindful of the effect that the things that he says, in the way that he says them, has on the viewpoints that take root in the community.

Having a very visible voice and presence means having power, and as the adage goes "with great power comes great responsibility".

I m pretty sure he expressed his worry about the war changes by saying " Do not touch my warrior" On the State of the realm with Mr Happy. Xenos is usually right about tanks and their kits, I like his ideas because most of them were converted into what we have right now. I wouldn't say anyone aimed Into this state of things by suggesting potency buffs for War.

I'm not trying to throw him under the bus, it's just literally exactly what he asked for.

Is there really any doubt that if we took what Xeno said out of this equation SE would've naturally came to the adjustments they arrived at? Possibly, but I don't think so..

I still don't think I really agree with you here. Neither here nor on Reddit do people really talk about WAR being particularly complicated. In fact, here in particular people have been spending inordinate amounts of time complaining about DRK and its issues rather than anything else. Aside from the random snide remark nearly all discussion about tanks has been about DRK in relation to other tanks. I think any direct link between Xeno and his twitch chat and the changes we have is tenuous at best, and any responsibility for crazy overhaul we see here is strictly at the feet of the dev team.

If they didn't take the inordinate amount of DRK criticism and thought from the OF, Reddit, and elsewhere into consideration with their changes (which they didn't) then I highly doubt that Xeno's offhand comments about dhitcrit in the Moogle Post or odds and ends comments here had a significant impact on the changes to WAR. If the entire OF spending the last four months trying to get a bone with DRK didn't work, I can't imagine that the random people saying that WAR was too complicated made SE change Inner Release. I'd say its more likely that they just made a somewhat bizarre design decision on a whim, as they do, to boil two buffs into one because tanks aren't allowed to have fun.

War changes is a nerf, not a buff.

That post was back when SE gave us no details except "War usability changes and a slight damage buff". Time matters.

Numbers aside, warriors as they are really are a little clunky to play right now don't you think? This is a good fix in the sense that it smooths over gauge usage, and neatly gets rid of annoying things like gauge numbers that don't pair with the gauge cost of abilities. Also, hitting two buttons to essentially accomplish the same goal isn't depth, it's just annoying. I'm glad they merged berserk with inner release. Also, as an ability, inner releases cooldown and its duration both posed problems in gameplay. One, it's cooldown at 2 minutes was too long to make it fun to use. Two, it's long duration coupled with its long cooldown made getting everything right in that tight timeframe way too necessary to be fun. You just had to squeeze everythign out of that burst window which get's thrown off sometimes because of mechanics. Now, it's 10 seconds, much shorter, and the chances of getting cutoff because of a gameplay transition during a boss fight is much less. And with a shorter cooldown, the punishment for it is also much less.

As an aside, the reduction to cooldown and duration also makes inner release more fun to use in just random world combat situations.

I don't know why people are so focused on numbers instead of how much more fun this fix will be for most people (I'd wager). As for complexity and depth of gameplay, I agree this reduces complexity--but it was needed, because there are in fact issues with how the class plays now.

I dunno... I kinda like the changes. Or at least, I'm willing to give this a try before I get upset. Warriors were a mess when stormblood was first released. It was clunky and not fun. This is encouraging to me (I can't be the only one that feels this way) because it shows that SE cares about enjoyment as much as they do about "balance."

At any rate, I'm excited to see how the changes pan out = D

That's like those things that grant wishes but not in the way you expect. For instance if you ask for money and it drowns you in the amount gives you.

Yeah he asked for stuff like that, he didn't ask for it to be given like this.
