Adressing the roots of the housing problem

Telling those players to go screw themselves because they worked and purchased land with in the rules is beyond selfish.

Please explain to me how owning several houses isn't selfish. Or in other terms explain to me how asking to share incredibly limited playable content with your fellow Eorzeans is selfish.... We’re not talking market board items or loot here, were talking about content.

I do not have a horse in this race but I can see how broken the system is ( hopefully can be less broken soon with 4.2 ). I've in fact bought several houses to give away to friends in housing updates in the past and do not have a personal house of my own at this moment. I could have easily kept them all on alts or scalped them, but I chose to be kind and courteous to people I care about who couldn't be online at the time or got stuck in the terrible server q. I did that because I did not need them. Choosing to keep them, merely because I wanted all of them, would indeed have been a selfish act when I already had full control of my FC's house.

I'm not asking these people to give up their gil spent on the houses. Yes 100% SE should give a 100% refund to houses IF they ever were taken. And let's not pretend that workshop items ( airships ) and shell FCs don't have a huge resale value. I've made millions on selling old used Airship parts my FC didn't need anymore.

And are we really going to cry over spilt milk? Gil has almost no value in this game. It comes and goes very easily. What are you sacrificing by giving up a few bound housing items ( Excluding Mogstation wallpapers which I believe SE should be permitting people to get back, it's criminal that they don't... I digress ). My total gil oscillates between 50-200mil every few months. It is not difficult to make money in this game if you can be bothered to put forth incredibly minimal effort.

I honestly would like to know your opinion on this. I’m truly not being hostile at all. I'm just curious because what you're saying stands if perfect juxtaposition of everything thing I’ve ever heard about greed or selfishness in terms to the housing in FFXIV. Choosing to take more of something just because you can, is in my opinion, the definition of selfish. Please for the love of the twelve prove me wrong…

Edit: Im also not saying anyone who owns more than one house broke the rules or anything. We did what we did because they let us. Square Enix had too much faith in the kindness of strangers and the generosity of their commnity. We all used the housing system the way it was given to us. It's not perfect but we love it and want it to be better. Better for everyone and not just a chosen few with fast connections and bottomless pockets.
