And, if i have understood you right: if i have two private houses with two different characters in the same world, i can keep my two houses but not buying a new one? Still not being the best solution, but at least i would not lost anything...

players get to keep all current houses they own. The only new change will be that players can not buy more than 1 FC house and 1 private house per account on a specific server.

People who own multiple houses already will be grandfathered in (meaning they keep all houses they currently own).

About my point 3... you're right. SE can do whatever they want, but as users, we have the right to disclaim and reclaim for a better service, improvements, etc. If i am paying for something, i have the right to protest if i think i have to. But you are right, i can't do something more than protest XD

Implementing the one house per world is a huge improvement. Who already owns more personal houses in one server, and doesn't plan to use them, I guess it is in his/her best interests sell it before patch being implemented, because after the patch, personal house resell is almost impossible.

I'd expect a house price decrease in the few days before the house patching, because who got it for resell wants get rid of it asap.

For those who don't LOVE housing and think that this is a good idea: For me and my housing group friends in the game, in different servers, forums, etc; having new housing opportunities (more space, more recipes, improving housing system) is like new jobs, new raids or new weapons for you. Just think what would happened if Yoshi announced that you could no longer play all jobs. Only few jobs per service account. I'm pretty sure you will feel disappointed.


Dear Square, you are not solving any problem. Just damaging people who enjoy a wonderful housing system and reducing our rights as players (to all of us) without any compensation nor agreement.

this is better than not doing anything, you can say yeah I have many houses that I use but that is not the case with most house owners, just thank them. plus the equality of everyone getting a house and not just the few having 10 houses.

Telling those players to go screw themselves because they worked and purchased land with in the rules is beyond selfish.

Please explain to me how owning several houses isn't selfish. Or in other terms explain to me how asking to share incredibly limited playable content with your fellow Eorzeans is selfish.... We’re not talking market board items or loot here, were talking about content.

I do not have a horse in this race but I can see how broken the system is ( hopefully can be less broken soon with 4.2 ). I've in fact bought several houses to give away to friends in housing updates in the past and do not have a personal house of my own at this moment. I could have easily kept them all on alts or scalped them, but I chose to be kind and courteous to people I care about who couldn't be online at the time or got stuck in the terrible server q. I did that because I did not need them. Choosing to keep them, merely because I wanted all of them, would indeed have been a selfish act when I already had full control of my FC's house.

I'm not asking these people to give up their gil spent on the houses. Yes 100% SE should give a 100% refund to houses IF they ever were taken. And let's not pretend that workshop items ( airships ) and shell FCs don't have a huge resale value. I've made millions on selling old used Airship parts my FC didn't need anymore.

And are we really going to cry over spilt milk? Gil has almost no value in this game. It comes and goes very easily. What are you sacrificing by giving up a few bound housing items ( Excluding Mogstation wallpapers which I believe SE should be permitting people to get back, it's criminal that they don't... I digress ). My total gil oscillates between 50-200mil every few months. It is not difficult to make money in this game if you can be bothered to put forth incredibly minimal effort.

I honestly would like to know your opinion on this. I’m truly not being hostile at all. I'm just curious because what you're saying stands if perfect juxtaposition of everything thing I’ve ever heard about greed or selfishness in terms to the housing in FFXIV. Choosing to take more of something just because you can, is in my opinion, the definition of selfish. Please for the love of the twelve prove me wrong…

Edit: Im also not saying anyone who owns more than one house broke the rules or anything. We did what we did because they let us. Square Enix had too much faith in the kindness of strangers and the generosity of their commnity. We all used the housing system the way it was given to us. It's not perfect but we love it and want it to be better. Better for everyone and not just a chosen few with fast connections and bottomless pockets.

This would make owning a private house worth an insurmountable much much more. Apartments are nice, but sharing a house on Alts makes Eorzean life grand.

Only thing I would add to this is being able to add “additional chambers” to private estates!

I really hope all the focus on housing so far this expansion isn't impacting the development of real playable content. It would be a shame if Shiroganue, redesigning the wards to enable swimming, and now these current changes could have resulted in some really cool content. After the wards are added, they will still be ghost towns no one is practically ever in. I've never seen anyone swimming in wards, and the housing shortage will never be resolved with a limited supply. In short, I think this system is a waste of dev time and resources, and worry is is negatively impacting the game as a whole as a result.

It's no more selfish than you. If you farm mats all day and craft a lot of HQ materials and equipment, is it selfish of you to sell them on the auction house instead of giving them away to any random player you meet?

Is it anymore selfish than you saving up millions of Gil to buy something like a pet instead of giving all your Gil to the first person you see?

It's not. There was no rule saying players couldn't own 2 houses per character and there is no rule saying you have to give up everything you gain to random players.

You both follow the rules of the game. The only difference is the few people who own multiple houses were better at the game than you and they have something you want.

You underestimate my generosity to the people I care about... there is a reason I lose gil so quickly ( not mention the random strangers I have given 1mil too when they ask for teleport money or petty cash to buy new NPC gear. )... These news about housing are wonderful overall, especially the part where they killed house flipping.

However, I am against the decision to give Free Companies priority in all future housing releases. This makes it even more difficult for people to get private homes. We can share a private house with 3 other people, the owner being the 4th house user. Yet a 4 man fc will get priority over any other small group of people. It isn't fair. In addition to this, while homeless players have to bury their hopes of getting their own house, all current house owners get to move to a new plot of their choosing with very little competition. Private house ownership should be treated the same as fc houses until apartments get crossbreed gardening, outdoor decoration and the same item restrictions as houses.
