well we currently have 5 roles. Assuming you didn't pick your favorite job for the role picks and have aseparate set for DoL and DoH you still stand at 8 sets at absolute maximum. So you can have 2 RP sets.

Are you trying to defend that 10 sets is enough or just how to deal with the current system? This is ideally how many sets we should have:
15 for DoW/DoM, 15 for each one to have a different look in PvP
8 for each crafting class
3 for each gathering class

The most different sets someone does currently that I personally know, uses different gear to have a set for each job (15) each gathering class (3) and 1 set for all crafting classes due to melds etc, then they got a PvP look for healing (though I do admit this was more significant during HW since now you can slap on whatever) and town walking set.

So we can remove 1 set from gathering that acts as "base" while the other 2 would need plates, Remove 1 healing set, since the other 2 healers would need plates, Would have 1 caster plate since SMN/RDM can share gear while BLM needs a complete different set, 2 plates for tanks would be needed, 1 plate for SAM/MNK, No plates for MCH/BRD since they gear differently, DRG and NIN wouldn't need plates, then 7 plates for crafting.

so you need 15 plates minimum while 30 would be more ideal. I think they are looking at WoW too much and somehow forget that is 1 to 3 classes per character while ffxiv is 26. Then around 40 would be considered nice and going above what is needed for those that want to make use of that.

In there eyes. And i suppose you as an outsider who has been playing this game for a month knows more about Square Enix's finances than the people who have been working there for years.

Do not patronize me. I am sure I know much more then you do, and considering your comment you seem to only need 8 sets, seems like a justified conclusion.
