SE's housing system doesn't favor anybody...

Instanced housing wouldn't work with the neighborhood setup. At best what you could do is have a little enclosed area surrounded by mountains or something tucked away, and that be instanced for each individual or FC to buy and place a plot on based on cost and make little upgrades to it like a pond, trees, waterfall, etc. But then people would stop using the neighborhood housing. You don't want instanced housing to be superior to it with no effort. I don't think housing is something everyone has to have equally.

Even doubling the current wards wouldn't cover half the playerbase. And this isn't even considering FCs or the fact people can own multiple houses split amongst their alts or dummy FCs. Their planned solution won't do a damn thing as plots will be sold out within ten minute. Even if they do implement a lottery system, the overwhelming majority of players won't get a house. It's, frankly, ridiculous they cannot figure out how to offer a feature other MMOs already do.

I really fail to understand this exclusivity mindset when it comes to housing. Why shouldn't everyone in the game be able to own a house?

Technically we still aren't going around in the open world much. Also, WoW's Garrison's weren't just a cosmetic thing. They actually contained multiple things (Profession buildings, free mats, free RAID GEAR from missions, etc.) Our housing doesn't have that, it's purely cosmetic. It'd also probably be set up easier to visit the housing. WoW's needed party I think? Here you could just type the person's name.

Garrison's other issue was the lack of anything to do in the open world at all. Or rather... everything you could do out there, you could do in your Garrison. Want normal raid gear? We got a mission for that. Want ore, even if you aren't a miner? Got a cave for that. Wanna craft epics? Got a building for that.

I don’t really understand the desire for exclusivity either. Everyone is paying a sub fee so should have access to everything available in the game, especially since housing does offer som extra gameplay that you can’t acess without one. I mean If there actually is some tech reason that they wouldn’t be able to implement instanced housing enough for everyone who wants it, then that’s one thing, but to not do it so that people who are able to to get houses can feel special and superior is ridiculous.

If it is true that there is enough housing for less than half the player base that’s a problem. But they don’t want to do instanced nor do they want to limit housing to one house per player per server, and they have made it abundantly clear that they cannot add enough wards under the current system for everyone, so unless there is a major change made, there will never be a remedy for the situation. It doesn’t seem like SE or the player base actually wants a resolution to this. SE maybe doesn’t want to admit they messed up in the first place and players like their exclusive ownership of houses and don’t want to give up owning 8 of them on a single server.

Because not everyone wants a house, not everyone needs a house, and not everyone can afford a house. Housing in this game is almost pure gil sink especially personal housing. FC houseing a case for inclusivity can be made due to workshop and supplemary content but there’s still no way to make that much room for everyone. Personal housing for all? No way.

Not everyone wants raids. Not everyone wants beast tribes. This could go on actually.

If you could only release something 100% of the playerbase wanted, we'd have no game. You are right that not everyone wants a house, but there are enough people that do. Plus where do you think the Warrior of Light is meant to go? What do we sleep on some poor man's $12 bed after saving the world from great evil? I can see why Warriors of Darkness started to exist now...

Take a look at examples like ESO and such, gardening would be of no issue either. The "community feel" has never existed really as people are not too social in wards.
There is a bigger picture here, and the solutions they are doing even despite the latest talk of they are working on a way for everyone to get a house when reality is... they are just adding more wards

While I could be wrong, IMO it's highly unlikely this will ever happen.

1) Yoshi-P stated a couple years back why instanced housing wasn't a solution. Whether or not this stance has changed is yet to be seen (upcoming housing purchase rules) but it's doubtful.

2) SE is too invested in the current model to change it (they've stated before they wanted a "community hub" type feel), and I sincerely doubt they'd want to be maintaining 2 separate housing style systems; pipe dream.

Only reason someone shouldn't have a house is if they can't afford it or don't want it. Simple as that.
