Is it time for relics to be the same ilevel as savage weapons?

I am fine with Relics being below, until the final patch in an expansion, top raid gear in power.

What I am not fine with, however, is the minuscule power increase that raid weapons have over tomestone weapons.

If a tomestone weapon is i330 upgradable to i340, that upgrade should be made available for everyone at the same time as the tomestone armor and jewelry i330->i340 upgrades. The weapons that drop should be i350, and the Relics between i340 and i350, at the i345 level.

Relics should also come out at the same time that the new raids come out.

That would make Relics relevant, while not overshadowing the raid scene. Also, it would allow raiders something to work on for their alt jobs, something worthwhile, rather than just grinding out another piece of welfare tome weaponry.

Tome gear is not welfare gear. Welfare gear is the gear which is actually given to you in the class quest box to get you started, and theres nothing wrong with being given free half decent gear to get started playing your class.

People want the best gear they can get for their character because people enjoy improving their character. that is the motivation for getting gear. not necessity for sure.

The relic should at least be equal when finished to raid weapons. doesn't have to be better but it needs to be on the same level or why bother?

I mean, tomestone gear is earned through various means. For all we know the person could've capped tomes helping people through savage that week (I've actually capped tomes doing that this tier some weeks). That said I can understand why people would want the best gear and I'm fine with the relic catching up to and eventually outclassing raid weapons at the end of the expansion. That I don't think should be changed to better than raid gear every raid tier.

I feel the SB relic should've had it's foot in the door by now so we'd have a decent tomestone sink for anybody past i320, I've had no interest in queueing roulettes besides one or two experts per week, verity isn't worth it. I have been content to farm relic type weapons past their prime for awhile so I wouldn't mind if the ilevel was lower than raid tier.

You're right, I just don't agree that having a full set of augmented tome gear means much after a while when you can get it by spamming content that requires minimal effort.

I disagree with this since I've done some savage and have seen how many mechanics happen at once. But I totally agree that the most difficult part of raiding is finding a group which doesn't have the jerks raiding has become famous for.

Elitism will kill raiding dead someday and those raiders who also happen to be scumbag elitists will only have themselves to blame for why MMO companies gave up on raiding
and decided to cater only to the easier to please crowd (some of the casuals who don't bother)

Unfortunately, for you, there will never come a point where raiding dies off. Why? Because it's among the things that drives these types of games. Funny enough, I see far more elitism coming from wannabe-top tier raiders than actual good players.

One requires you beating the hardest fights in the game, Alte Roite notwithstanding. The other... allows you to mindlessly spam faceroll easy dungeons.

I'm fine with it the way it is. You can already be fully geared (ilvl 340) and never step foot in a savage or normal raid. Raiders only advantage is that they get there faster. I think they definitely deserve a little something for their efforts throughout the expansion. It is the most difficult content at the time.

Relic weapons already have so many things going for them: custom stats and a great looking model. If they were the best every patch there would be no need for extreme primals.

You can't mindlessly do Rabanastre that's utter bull. you can't "Mindlessly" do any current dungeon for that matter. You need some level of effort to get anywhere at max level it just is a matter of whether its a little effort or a lot.
