Is it time for relics to be the same ilevel as savage weapons?

Think about the influx of new players into the raid pool for a moment. Your static needs a new bard? Don't bother asking little Timmy as he is busy grinding out his relic safe in the knowledge that he doesn't need to do Savage for anything anyway.

Oki so lets say SE do indeed make the relic the best weapon.

So now casual Timmy comes along, grinds out his 1000 Wineport rats and crafts 500 Moogle shaped cupcakes or whatever for his Relic. He's got his big boy pants weapon, he will already have a multitude of sets of 330 tome gear from all the dungeons he's had to do en route to his relic and will promptly get to upgrade it once the 24man hits. Now you tell me, what inclination or motivation does our little casual Timmy have to ever step foot into Savage?

Think about that for a moment.

Do you actually think SE will ever go with an approach that renders that expensive Savage raid obsolete and pointless for the masses before it's even unlocked? The current Relic/Tome/Savage setup allows casuals to have strikingly close gear parity to world first raiders whilst still keeping that little carrot there over the Savage raid to lure people in. What's the issue with that?

The issue is it simply doesn't work. Casual timmy still thinks savage raiding is pointless and just doesn't bother trying. There will be better gear next patch that's easier to get.

Casual timmy also knows hat as soon as 4.2 lands he could just go to a crafter and buy some 350 gear if he so wanted. Or grind normal mode omega for 350 gear...

In the end giving relics parity with savage weapons really wouldn't change a thing. Because casual timmy just isn't going to bother with savage regardless.

Raiding populations are as low as they are because the rewards just aren't seen as worth it to many players. It's said a lot 3verie this kinda thread comes up. People won't raid because the rewards are junk and not worth investing in When they're just gonna be trash the moment the next patch lands.

Even the challenge behind savage is junk. Today hard tomorrow easy. No prestige to clearing it another reason bot to bother..

Ultimate will end up the same no doubt. People roflstomping it in 4.5 or 5.0

Actually, it would because now everyone has access to the highest ilvl weapon at the beginning the tier. Furthermore, it's a slap in the face to raiders who clear the hardest content available. You do menial tasks like Beast Tribe dailies and faceroll dungeon yet are rewarded with the best weapon? During a catch up patch, people aren't going to care much but when the new tier releases, BiS is only obtainable through completing it. Take that away and what's even the point?

I'm not even going to mince works. You want the best weapon immediately? Go challenge yourself and work for it. Spamming Temple of the Fist or Kugane Castle where banging your head on the keyboard is enough to clear shouldn't gift you anything more than it does.

Oki. You kinda do miss the big picture since ur only mindset is raid overall about is it worth it? and ignoring the fact that its optional.
So is relic. Dont like relic being stronger than savage tier? Say hello to anima lux.

Now i speak from my perspective and for raider i do know for a LONG time since they dont snooze into the forum.
I like doing svage because its fun and also this tier was easy bcuse i took it down faster than midas and creator era.
Some might not find it easy but that may have to do with good excuses.
But hey there is relic! Its time consuming and last in about 1/2 years to get to the last tier.
Its more time consuming and you invest time on it for each steps. Svg is all about dances and teamplay.
Its not even point of arguing back because i do know in the end of the expansion everything will be replaced.
Savage, relic, crafting, wolf etc etc is just "something" to do in this game. So dont make it sound if relics gets stronger the savage will be pointless cuse it will not.
