    2 Hours / Power Abilities

    I remember Yoshida saying at one point we would be given abilities that were like 2 hours of FFXI, though he had said that due to the nature of the combat system in this game they would more likely not have as long of recast times. (I.E. 30 min)

    I was just curious if anyone knows if this is still in the works? And if so, should we expect it to come along with jobs, or will the Classes see abilities such as these in the future as well?

    The specific class changes post hasn't gone up yet, but I'm really hoping to see something like this for each class/job in the future. We haven't heard anything about this in a long time, so I'm hoping to hear about the progress of whether or not we can still plan on getting these types of abilities.


    TLDR; Are we still getting 2 hours / Long Duration abilities in the future or has this idea been scrubbed?

    Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them.     Yoshida further clarified this a bit and mentioned that these effects would come into place through the combo system, as in grand cooperative combos that you can perform once per fight.

    That'd be pretty fun! But it also makes me wonder how that will work with say..Paladin. Perhaps if a PLD finishes the combo of correctly they will temporarily get an Invincible effect or a heavy increase in mitigation/defense.

    Wow adding cool flashy moves gets a no because ff11 had a "version" of it? man you must hate........ everything in this game because nothing is new....

    To be more specific, this is FFXIV with a diferent abilities set up, battle system, and game design, and its not as applicable for those abilities at this time. And he rather it stay that way.

    Battle director said some time ago posting on the forums he likes the idea of two hour abilities and will implement them.

    2-hour abilities are a good idea, who cares if FFXI had them or not. They are great for OH Sh!t situations and can really save your life.

    Though I would say limit them to Jobs and not classes since jobs are specialized in 1 thing so a 2-hour (or power ability) would fit into them nicely.

    I'd love to have them back. They added a layer of strategy to the game.

    They really don't. If it gets implemented the way FFXI does, stuff like chainspell stuns will become common strategy, hard encounters will base revolving around the abilities, and people will not gets invites to contents if the ability is on cooldown, sort of like how sentinel become requirements these days for Ifrit fight.

    Although i am not fond of the idea, I am not totally against it because i have belief in Yoshi-P to find a fine middleground.
