It's a massive training tool, essentially. While aided by universal and consistent access to parsing, it does not require such, and can be used solely at player convenience.
So is this kind of what you mean by spellbook?

This is 2k glossary, it gives a short video preview of when or how to use a skill.

XIV uses player reticules under players and enemies to show direction faced much like certain sports games do. The training dummy or SSS is an mmorpg version of freestyle mode in basketball games. The scrimmage type feature present in basketball games is low level dungeons in XIV.

Here is the newest version of training in bball games with a dojo or training gym.

One feature from sports I would like to see come in Hall Of The Novice training or SSS is actual segments of any dungeon or raid where the player has control over when a sequence is paused or rewinded to be repeated to experiment with or learn how to dodge every encounter and understand any mechanic. Basically a practice play option like basketball games have. It involves a coaches marker drawing lines on the best place to maneuver or run to, where is the best place to pass, or the best place to shoot. Here it would be markered in to relay player rotation positions and where to go to avoid a certain mechanic.

Instead of cold or hot zones. Overlays for each practice run would show safe zones and danger zones and various other information. Then you would run the play practicing dodging or maximizing rotation usage.

In addition to this concept I would like to see your common sports passing icons used in XIV or at least an option. Hitting a certain button assigns 1-10 button icons to each enemy withing 20 yalms. And instead of cycling, you could press a button icon to instantly target a preferred target.
