Sorry, I know you were trying to insult me but it really made me feel good to know that I don't come across as a greedy company leader. You can try insults all you like, but imo, a cash shop that sells outfits/mounts/potions for ridiculously high prices as well as has a subscription is greedy.

Nah i'm not trying to insult you i just stated how your comment looks for me. And no its not greedy to offer something extra on top of a base price (sub), thats what every company does and its normal.

Its the same as if you go into any store or restaurant and complain if you have to pay extra for extras.

I'm not sure how popular the jump potions are anyway; the story one certainly does not seem very much so (judging by how often my trials roulette gives me ARR post-game MSQ trials for which there is absolutely no material reward apart from a token handout of Tomestones plus the "someone is new" bonus, i.e., places that nobody actively queues for unless they need it for the quest).

P2W is going to be a subjective matter anyway in most cases. How much of an advantage does it need to be? Does it need to be a permanent one? (E.g., the XIV cash shop gear with the XP bonuses below a point, or the SWTOR color crystals that can be used from Lv10 but merely give the same stats as the ones normally found in all Lv50+ gear?)

Well, sure, I think it's okay for SE to do whatever they want with their game. On a personal level I'm not very thrilled about it, especially since it's... well, been getting worse and worse over the years.

And I certainly haven't seen where they've been putting the money they've made from cash shop sales back into the game.

But alas, microtransactions are here to stay. It's not even a point of 'vote with your wallet' anymore. People with a much looser grip on their wallets are much more profitable than I am. Why would SE give a damn what I think when I just pay my $15 a month while Johnny Wallet over here is paying for every new dress, new mount and skip-potion they churn out.

Terrible comparison..

End of the day Mogstation is cosmetic things and not any P2W items. Not even jump potions are. Nothing in there is needed to progress.
if you missed on a seasonal event then its great they add them in the shop for the people who was unable to attend i think.

No its like you order a margherita + extra sausage (or what ever) and complain then that you have to pay extra for the sausage (or what ever). Don't try to bring up examples if you didn't understand how it works.

It also amuses me how easily people will defend SE for throwing items into the cash shop. Plenty of us were around when a subscription to a game got you all the bells and whistles. Slowly DLC and microtransactions became a thing, and now here we are playing a game that you had to initially buy, and you pay a month sub for, where exclusive items are frequently put into a cash shop, and people defend it. SE is in a pretty sweet spot.

The opinion will vary wildly in that topic.

Many people are against the sale of sub tokens because RMT is pay to win, but additional retainers can generate millions of gil every few days. So it depends whether you consider turning real money into gil pay to win or not.

for what its worth, I don't at all consider it pay to win in FFxiv because gil cannot get the best gear in the game short of paying other people to clear content for you, which I cant imagine clearing V3S/V4S with 1 complete dead weight. I also dont gather/craft or own a house and I find myself barely spending gil at all. and even then, very little content is gated by high iLvl so they win nothing in my eyes.

You know what entertains me the most? People who think they own everything only because they pay a sub. You don't like that you don't get everything for free? Then get over with it and move on.
