They didn't fail to give us trials for HW Relic. Hydra and Chimera launched with base 2.0. 2.0 is the base game it's always going to be bigger than any expansion. 3.0 and 4.0 never was going to give us as much stuff as 2.0 did.

2.0 was made when the game wasn't live and they didn't have to create updates and make 2.0 at the same time. 3.0 and 4.0 was made while the 2.x and 3.x updates were getting made at the same time. the actual Relic quest is the quest that started in the patches, the 2.x series and 3.x series of those quests are basically the same.

I meant hunts as in B, A, S Rank mobs, they didn't launch with 2.0 but both expansions launched with those out of the box. fyi there's a super FATE in Azys Lla nobody does that's on the same level as Coeurlregina, we didn't lose one the rewards just really suck.

So if the core idea behind Deep Dungeon and Treasure Dungeons as well as the teams have been developed and we haven't gotten much of an idea of what's in store for us in the future what justifies us losing one extra dungeon in SB?
this is the biggest problem with people like you. it's the worse of middle management mentalities in any business. having an idea is not the same as doing the work. having the core idea is nice, but someone had to make Uznair and the Hidden Canals. someone is currently developing the SB version of PotD, it doesn't just magically appear because the idea is there. if you want these recreated / expanded upon and you expect a third level of new stuff on top of that something has to give (this time we got Ultimate Savage, Squadron AI). it's only one Hard mode dungeon every odd patch, even patches we're still supposed to get two.

Is that really a bad thing tho? I find it's better to use what works and perfect it... or do we want another sonic series where NOTHING works cause sega is always changing things. I get the need to want something fresh but we're getting that in the next patch. Lets wait before we doom and groom right? - and no this wasn't directed just at you. But to everyone who mentions something like what you just said. -

I've been playing for 3 years now.

I do not feel the same. However I'm a gamer that plays other games to break up the monotony every game will eventually be guilty of.

It's not a crime. It's just what happens in the life cycle of a game. MMO and not.

I personally love everything about 14, because I can invest as much time as I want into it, or not, depending on life and still not fall too badly behind with content and updates.

I've been playing this game since 2.1 and I feel the same as you OP. My boyfriend and I were just talking about it this morning and a bit last week as well. It’s nothing that is going to make me quit this game but I feel you 100%.

I love this game and find all the dungeons and raids are very fun to play.... but it is severely lacking in actual repayable content. There is no glory gear and there is absolutely zero horizontal progression. Everything is a gear treadmill with the welfare/tome gear or raid gear as the only options. No matter which treadmill you stand on there is zero reason to get on it in the first place! You can wait a few months and surpass that gear in a couple dungeon runs and everyone else’s past accomplishments mean nothing. This is exactly why I have not cleared relevant content since coil. I love this game but the gear system and the reward system is terrible. Why should I ever clear primals when I know were going to get way cooler crafted weapons later? Why should I farm for mounts when I know they’re going to nerf the drop rates later? Why should I clear raid content when I know I can get glamour/mounts/minions/crafted items later when I have a higher iLvl from my welfare gear? The answer is I don’t have to, so I don’t. The only people I know that still actively clear that content do it for the fun of learning the fight when it’s at its most difficult. That just doesn’t compel me but way more power to the people who love doing that!

When people say Glamour is the true end game that is very true. A majority of the time that is literally the only reason to filter through old content again later. It is fluff systems like our glamour and our social fun-loving community that has kept me here. If not for the great group of people I have in my Free Company and Linkshells I more than likely would have quit this game a couple years ago.

This game is focused on making your own arbitrary goals via achievements, crafting, gathering and so forth. I’ve found that my friends who don’t do this tend to quit playing a few weeks within hitting max level. They come back every other content patch or so but don’t play at the same level as those able to set their own goals that the game does not give us.

This is also why so many people raid log and why Gilgamesh is a veritable ghost town the last few weeks (went to Kugane around 10am EST to turn in a Leve and I was one of 3 people I saw between the aetheryte and Leve counter.) … People hit their goals and unsub or don’t log back in until later. The people that stayed logged in have set other goals that have little or nothing to do with the ones given to us by clearing content where gear is obtained. The bulk of this game is played in extremely casual content.

Yes, I feel like there should be more substance in the raid/dungeons and so forth but I don’t think we’ll ever see it OP. I think the system we have now is the system we are stuck with until the game starts to bleed subs. Either you want to clear the content for fun or you don’t want it. Either is ok.

I also don’t feel like we’ve lost content. I can understand that feeling though. I think it’s more a matter of the content we’re getting to replace the things they took away are terrible. They took away reliable content and gave us things like Lords of Verminion and Diadem in its stead. We’re getting the same amount of content but the problem is some of that content is literally unplayable (even more so now with things like diadem, there is no reason to go in there anymore. Diadem is something that should be updated every single odd patch with catch up gear but I don’t think SE will ever do it). Some of it has been OK like PotD & Aquapolis. We had a lot of the same kind of content in 2.0 (lots of trials in different aspects of the game and lots of dungeons in every patch), I’m OK giving that up for other content like PotD and Aquapolis. Like I said, I can see where you’re coming from though that is feels like we’ve lost content but we really haven’t, just some of the stuff we’ve gotten is a huge steaming pile of poopy.

Right now, it’s a game of set your own end-game or play something else until Bahamut Ultimate / Omega 2.0. It’s always been like that and I think it always will be.

Ack, it's 'more fun' not 'funner' That isn't even a word!

    * How fast do you feel you go through content that comes out? I am curious as my FC leader has commented they are getting bored with the game as well. I am surmising it is because, like you, they have gone though pretty much all the game has to offer.

    * Do you think just adding more content would really help? Or maybe adding 'new and different' content? Something not like events, but overall in general?

    * Do you have any kind of goals when you play? For me personally, goals are one of the things that keep me going when I play. I make a goal each day and stick to that. Otherwise I get overwhelmed and give up, or even burned out.

    * That brings me to ask, do you feel you are burned out on the game? Or just uninterested in what is out in the game now?

I do understand where you are coming from. Though I haven't played as long as you have here, I have gone through the same thoughts and feelings when it comes to EverQuest and EverQuest 2.

I do agree we could do with dungeons being a bit more challenging at the baseline, but outside of that I've been enjoying Stormblood and I am GLAD that the formula was relatively unchanged. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel when the one you have has a proven track record of success. Change to address issues and add quality of life is fine, but change just for the sake of change is never a good idea as far as I'm concerned. But that also doesn't mean I don't want to see new kinds of content and more of it.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?

I've been playing since ARR and I think the grind and prediction is getting to me, I may come back for patch months but otherwise I'm probably taking large breaks between them. I think what really adds to all of it is that there often is so many "gear catch up" methods that mean you could just join halfway through the expansion's cycle and be outfitted with content ready gear in a week, rendering all previous efforts pointless except now there's more content to play for those who join later. Personally, people are the only reason why I still play otherwise I'd have been bored of doing the same thing over and over. The only thing that may keep my attention is housing but we all know how that goes these days.

What plan should they have, out of curiosity?

I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm sincere. This is an older complaint, that things in this game never change, and sometimes, that can be daunting. Yoshi P himself said if the game is getting stale, don't be afraid to walk away from it for a while. I've done that myself a couple of times and it helps. A 1-2 month break often lets me come back feeling refreshed and happy to be playing again.

But what would you suggest Square do to, 'Shake up their core content and keep it from being Quickly Spent?'

It's difficult for me to sympathize with these kind of threads, and my response is always the same because I always get the same impression from the OP. And that is simply that you are burned out.

I've experienced this burnout on other mmos. You have to take a step back and ask yourself if the goals you have with playing an mmo line up with obtainable goals in the mmo you're playing. As an example, there are many FFXIV players who desire vertical progression, but that's not the system this game uses. So you either deal with it and find fulfillment elsewhere in the game, or find another mmo that matches your desired progression rate.

My experiences with previous mmos taught me a lot before I subbed to FFXIV. One of those was to create goals based off what the game has to offer, and another was to not spend 98% of my time grinding the 2% of the game's total content.

Of course, I can't expect everyone to get enjoyment from the game the same way I do, and I likely sit in the minority with how I do, but at the same time, I recognize that I found a way to keep myself from getting burned out. All that being said, my advice is to try to do the same within the parameters the game has set. If you cannot and are not enjoying your experiences in the game, there aren't many options left for you.

I can't be the only one who clicked this expecting a Lalafell-themed parody of A Modest Proposal..
