That's pay to win, more or less. If they do so, the game needs become subscription free.

NO! no way
Oh, man. It's almost like the token system is useful in more than one way and that while WoW still has RMT trade, tokens lessen it significantly and WoW GMs prevent it from being advertised in game and investigate out of game reports and sites.
My fiancé does not pay for anything in WoW with actual money. Not our subs, race changes, name changes, or faction changes. All of it is paid with in game currency, and its very convenient for our wallets.
I know y'all on the forums have some weird hate for WoW for whatever reason, but its been around much longer than ffxiv and ffxi, and is wildly successful, pretending that ffxiv wouldn't benefit from taking ideas and concepts from WoW (or that it hasn't in the past lol) is frankly ridiculous.
Oh I'm not pretending.I know y'all on the forums have some weird hate for WoW for whatever reason, but its been around much longer than ffxiv and ffxi, and is wildly successful, pretending that ffxiv wouldn't benefit from taking ideas and concepts from WoW (or that it hasn't in the past lol) is frankly ridiculous.
I saw first hand just how badly the WoW token inflated the player market when it got introduced, because now people had a powerful incentive to spend as much time as possible gathering a veritable fortune in ingame currency, because of the ability to save real money spent on subscription. And the whole thing went south from there.
The WoW token is even part of the reason why I in the end quit the game, as it drasticly overinflated the player market, and made things almost impossible to buy unless you did serious currency grinding. Something I pray I'll never have to see happen to FF14, as I genuinely feel the only people this would benefit are those that are hardcore crafters and/or gatherers, who only do dungeon or story content outof necessity.
Just because FF14 lifted some ideas from WoW, and because WoW is generaly considered the king of MMO's, it doesnt mean everything WoW did ever is automaticly the best idea
I've never claimed everything WoW ever did is the best idea. I'm referring to the people saying the word "WoW" should be banned from the forums and the like.
The markets were thrown out of wack for a month or two at the most before restabilizing as the GMs and devs made adjusted and regulated and players changed their prices as the hype died down. This is basic economics.
It doesn't exclusively benefit crafters and gatherers in WoW so its highly unlikely if implemented properly, that it'll do so in ffxiv, although I do question why you're singling out people who may not enjoy dungeon or story content.
Who it will benefit is people who don't have a lot of real life money to spare.
This is incorrect. FFXI released 2 years before WoW did.Oh, man.
