Incorrectly assuming that all run buyers are somehow RMT.

I've never been a big fan of mercenary runs (mostly due to the potential of giving clears to terrible players who make a lot of money and having them shit up the normal PF runs) but at the end of the day, if people wish to spend their money on this stuff, and people are willing to do it, it'll forever be a thing. It's somewhat lazy, yes, but cheating? Not really.

The game economy is at a point where outside of glamours, minions and housing that no-one can get, there are literally no gil sinks. What else would people spend money on if they can't clear certain content?

You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.

This community astounds me at times.

Kerwin obviously is in Denial and don't know what a RMT is.

While on the subject, if I sell crafting kits (i.e 15-50 / 50-60 / 60-70) to powerlevel you in PF; am i breaking some rules?
Just like me, those who selling clears are providing a service.

I personally wouldn't pay anyone to clear x content but then again i don't give a rat ass for endgame content like savage.
At best I will clear ex trials but even with that i normally wait until they get echo nerf.

I'm in heart a crafter and not a endgamer per say.

I honestly don't find anything wrong with it, if people are willing to buy it with gil and groups are willing to sell it then its a mutually beneficial transaction. The sale groups pay their own subs and they are in no way, shape, or form obligated to carry people through content out of just goodwill, they don't owe the community anything and to expect that of them is somewhat selfish as well. I find sale groups to be a service, they do for you what you can't do or just have a hard time doing on your own, sorta like hiring a plumber or something.

Some people just aren't able to really do the learning grind for end game stuff for a lot of different reasons. Schedule can be too difficult to join a steady raid group, health problems that make long grinding sessions difficult, lack of ability, lack of interest in raiding, or just don't have the time to learn content before it becomes obsolete. I've never paid for a clear on any games, I rather enjoy the whole learning/wiping/watching people rage like crazy and tell everyone they're pieces of *&#$, but I can definitely understand why some people do pay for them. Crafters end up with hundreds of millions of gil and nothing to spend it on anyway, so if they know they will never be able to clear something without paying for it, why not?

As a person who does sell end-game content regularly, the people adamantly against it generally don't have full insight on the process.

    The buyer is always in-power.

If we don't deliver the content/loot they not only will not come back again, they'll tell everyone, their friends, FC, and what not. That can be a monumental hit to the business. Like eBay, one negative is enough to cause one to lose their entire selling business. No serious selling group will ever risk their reputation. So when content is offered, it is with trust and confidence. The players participating in the sale have had the content on-farm for awhile.

Believe it or not buyers aren't always people you think. Maybe it's just someone who really wants that doggie mount but has lost it so many times in PuG groups. Sometimes a request for savage page/chest runs is because they don't have time to wipe or raid every week.

You have more people who barely clear messing up farms. A buyer will generally buy their loot-and-scoot.

    But.. Muh regulations!!

This is absolutely the truth. Most people buying runs are fairly capable and just tired of PF/DF struggles. I used to occasionally help a sales linkshell back during ARR, most of those people quit now, but it's a pretty harmless process. I've also hired myself out as tank here and there over the years, nothing wrong with making a bit of extra gil. There's no victims, it's all voluntary. Win - Win.

Admittedly, I join farm groups as soon as I get a clear...though I've never paid for one. But I make sure I know my stuff which isn't really a problem since I'm usually coming straight from practice parties. I won't ever join a farm group if I don't know what I'm doing.

I see it now - must've cleared 5 times before joining a clear party. And what if I'm an alt who had the thing on farm on my main? Do I have to suffer through clear parties and fail for days on end?

I've only done that once when I was farming for Niddhog's bird. Though I let them know I wasn't 100% on the one part(stupid fireballs still mess me up from time to time if I get that place), they were cool with it. I have never bought a clear from anyone, I've always worked to learn the fights(still have a few EX primals to kill off - Shinryu and Susanoo are the only ones - and farm - afore mentioned two, plus Zurvan and Lakshmi - for mounts)
