Which I'm sure plenty have done before. However its a two way street, all the initiative in the world won't help those players if no one are willing to help them. For said above reasons. Players want things over fast and get mad if things don't go their way. Maybe that's another reason why run sales thrive, for the players that asked for help but that initiative fell on deaf ears.

I'm not really bothered by it, if someone wants to buy or sell a run. It's of no mind to me. However this is a case of the community being its own worst enemy. I know how having someone who bought a run can be a detriment to the party. I can't really blame people for buying clear runs though when I see comments on patch day just an hour or two after server up of party finder messages of "must know the mechanics perfectly or kick" or walls of text of whatever bad things the leader wants to do to you if the party fails. Mixed with comments of "this content is a week old, what do you mean you haven't done it yet??" If a new player misses the server up learning time, isn't fortunate to be able to play that day or wants to do it later. Said player often get's chastized for missing the boat. I know not everyone in the community are jerks, but when faced with jerks over and over its easy to see why run sales are popular and why people turn to them.

After all, which case means a new player would at least get a chance to see and try to learn the mechanics. Buy a run, or get in a fresh instance where the party disbands the second they see the new player bonus?

EDIT: Guys I wasnt tryin to downplay anyone. Trying to understand really. I guess from MY perspective its pretty ridiculous when I have like 120k on average. It IS their gil I get that much. But personally I wouldn’t have a sense of accomplishment after the clear, AND my pockets would probably be empty.
I completely agree and even feel that it should be against TOS to sell clears. something seems very fishy about it.

    Howso?

In the grand scheme of things, it's actually no different to paying someone to craft an item for you no?

Who does it really harm though?

In any case, even if the devs did want to ban it, how do you go about monitoring something like that? People would just advertise on Reddit and arrange everything on Discord. All the devs would ever see is one person struggling with mechanics.

This is true, I mean they can't even get rid of all the RMT and chat spam bots.

Hired mercs have been a thing since as far back as I can remember in Mmos. I just figure "Poor Bastard needs to pay for the clear? Lucky for the mercs."

    And then just move on.

All party's benefit from the accord. So long as people honor their word, there's nothing wrong about the practice. Sure though. I get the salt and it's laughable to me. But to assume everyone is using RMT money to buy runs is an exaggeration. I know plenty of wealthy crafters who don't care for content because they can easily afford such costly services, and to not be stuck in a learning "clear" group with people who are clearly still "learning."

All in all, it's just another way to make money. Guaranteed service like a player run casino. But that's... another topic for another day

I dont really care if people do this, but you have to admit it a sweet deal if rmt get involved in the market as well. Sell the Gil to a player and get a chance in getting it returned if not get Gil anyways from another player =profit. No one really know between legit players from rmt thats perfect cover imo. /Shrugs

This is a pretty big exaggeration. RMTs won't make their names as easily identifiable like this. Plus the time and cost of getting 7 geared players together with up to date content requirements/expansion costs + risk of the accounts getting banned. It does not make sense and there's far to much work involved. RMT use other strategies.
