I dread reading any thread titled "An open letter to..."

These letters always make the assumption that everyone agrees with your points.

I don't have any problem with the concept of the hazards used in the ifrit battle. I highly doubt it will be a constantly-occuring gimmick, however I'm sure it will see some use in the future. I like stuff like this (as long as it's not exactly the same every time) because it adds an extra dimension to the fights.

Think about when jumping is released. With good timing you could probably jump to avoid some of these types of hazards.

By the way, "losing" only has one O.

Getting him is not the issue here.

The point here is simply to say until the stuff is all hunky dory. Going forward dancing in a mine field as the main form of difficulty might not be such a hot idea. As far as i'm concerned aside from wanting to get my hands on an extra weapon or two, Ifrit is water well under the bridge. but i had to use something to frame this letter, so why not use the biggest and arguably only possible example?

What you quoted was me responding to duuude saying what amounted to "Hey, suck less".
My response being my ability to suck or not is really in my hands, it's in the hands of how the game state gets updated. Yes perhaps if i were to be able to mentally parse every action to the micro second things would be better. but even then if that packet of me moving out of the giant fireball gets dropped there is not much i can do about it now is there?

There's a lot to consider when encountering problems such as these:

    - Your ISP
    - Type of Modem your using
    - If you are using a Router that can effect your connection speeds " depending on the separation from the modem you are from the Router.
-the computer itself your running on ( the setting in which you have it on could be to high for the computer your using)

Of course your going to run into lag issues here and there, and there no doubt there's a problem with SE servers. but the picture that was displayed I never got hit from that far. it sounds like something with your settings. but this is all pure speculation mind you.

I dig where you are coming from. I hope that i did not follow suit. or at the very least my instances of speaking for every body (which i was not trying to do) were limited.

Normally i don't either. My issue is not so much that hazard zones were used at all, i fully agree a bit of spice makes things nice. Its more along the lines of the extent they were used especially in the later half of the fight and even more so how unforgiving they are.

Think about when jumping is released. With good timing you could probably jump to avoid some of these types of hazards.
Could be fun! Though i will counter this with something else. think about how frustrating a jumping puzzle would be when the server is constantly telling your client "No he/she/it did not actually make that jump the character is dead now" good thing that jumping will be a post 2.0 thing.

By the way, "losing" only has one O.
Thanks for pointing that out. it be fixed now.
I try my best but sometimes the gud speerer in me slips out.

I'm getting kind of frustrated with people blaming lag for dying.

Here is how you can tell if it was lag or bad play: if and where the corpse slides to.

Yes, lag happens. It will generally get you 10% of the time. No, that isn't enough frequency to blame it for wipes.

Please, please, pleeeeease put to rest the lag conversation. SE is aware.

If you continuously fail it's you or your team.

I'm sorry OP, but if you can't finish Ifrit alive this is a L2P issue.

Yes, the servers are laggy and what you see in your screen is always 2 seconds behind what the server sees, but once you know this, you can just work around it, like everybody else does.

I actually think SE was fully aware of these issues and the fight is somehow balanced around them. If there was no lag and no animation lock, what would be hard about this fight? Moving out of a fire that takes ages to explode? It would have died within 2 hours of release.

Skype it up yo.even if you have lag others who see the eruption before you can look out for you by saying it ahead of time. Also look for the crouch and swipe!

yet another person i see who says if u die its your fault. dont blame a broken function of the game. Ifrit is just one fright what he is saying is that he wants the dev to plan the fights to come better so that it takes into account the lag.

No, I didn't say that. I said it is frustrating to hear people constantly claim lag for losses. If you constantly fail to win and others are able to combat lag with good gameplay and win then it is illogical to say that lag is the sole reason for failure as people tend to claim.

If someone "knows the fight inside and out" and can't win (or win alive) that isn't solely lag - that's bad gameplay.

No offense, but if you know the fight "inside and out", then you shouldn't die at all. Ifrit has predictable patterns of attack and he even telegraphs all of them. Anticipation and prediction is the key to fast reaction time, just like in a fighting game. The lag and animation lock sucks, yes, but it can all be compensated for with skillful play and player knowledge. Search some of the other Ifrit threads here for tips.
