this boils down to a couple of things no one seems to gives a rats ass about anymore.

1) mutual respect
2) COMMON DECENCY

yeah its a game, but people play to enjoy it, not get annoyed because some moron lacks the common decency to be prepared or play thier class properly causing problems for others and taking away thier enjoyment of the game

I do know it's a game, and I can safely assume you wouldn't want someone in your group virtually leeching EXP because they couldn't care less if they were an empty slot. Imagine if every melee in the party retained this attitude (especially your tank) - you'd end up with superfail, and all because people like you make up excuses for them.

I for one am grateful. Some people always feel the need to say the most obnoxious things regardless of the time and effort you put into typing useful information for a successful link-shell and events. Players who really care about the game and challenge appreciate it and try to learn and practice until they're made perfect.

For those players playing and NOT getting perfected by their practice in the game they know they're playing with OTHER human beings: Don't waist peoples' time! FFXIV suppose to be the successor of FFXI, a MMORPG for those who can THINK.

Mind Your Manners. I don't (shouldn't) have to remind you all to say please and thank you when it's warranted, as this section is more about ingame courtesies, rather. Don't criticise another player or situation in any channel outside of /tell. Even then, make sure it's much more constructive than patronising. Don't join an event with less than an hour to spend doing it, emergencies notwithstanding.

Now that wouldn't be fair, right? How about someone saying that same exact line to YOUR face? Unless you give a person a chance, how do you expect to know anyone? That is what MMOs are about! You didn't just start the game and automatically have a bunch of friends or "people you know".

I think it's good that even us, the old school MMORPG players should sometimes be reminded that good manners go long way and it's always good to come prepared and not waste everyone's time.
Another thing I would like to say is that party leaders should really sometimes take more responsibility on leechers and get rid of them and not just keep them in the party because you don't feel like kicking them.

Last night we had a person make a party and when we got to the camp he went afk for like 20+ mins. Around 15 mins mark one of the party members decided to disband and re-make the party, the ldr came back a bit later and got re-invited and then he started to have a go at the members for kicking him from his own party. He never said he was going afk for so long.

If I had to afk for 20 mins, I would tell the party that I needed to take care of something and if they wanted they could remove me from the party for that time. Many times people actually don't mind (as long as they are notified) a random afk as long as it doesn't last an hour.

In another party few days ago we had a conjurer who refused to heal. I was main healing on THM and not until I made a fuzz about it, we managed the CON to cast a few cures here and there. He didn't nuke either btw, just ran around doing absolutely nothing. I wasn't the party leader and when I mentioned this in the pt the ldr was just like "lol, we're still alive though" (Which made my blood boil a bit lol).

Yes, it's just a game but why should I waste my time playing with people who really couldn't care less if people live or die or if the exp is slow because they can't be asked to chip in?

I understand how you feel and I've seen on LS chat about dumping parties that suck and reforming in town. I've done it a couple of times myself. It happens, dump the party, reform then or later. But why come crying here like it's going to solve anything? Most of the time, people don't care how you feel in game and they most certainly couldn't care less about your feelings on these forums. If someone hasn't learned to mind their Ps and Qs from their mom why would they learn it from you?

Just my 2 cents. Go have fun out there.

Some of you have the tact of a clumsy knife-juggler. It really makes me wonder if you learned anything from mommy and daddy at all, or you took in your better senses from the snot-nosed kids around you. I'm not trying to change anyone to any drastic degree, and nor did I imply that the OP was even about common manners. All I'm asking for is a little competency, reliability and respect in player habits.

"TL;DR" by definition has got to be one of the dumbest things yet to come up in internet communications. If you're not bothered to read what you intend to comment on, then how are you supposed to have any real opinion outside of what the title says?

True as that may be, it is also a game where you play with others. I feel I can speak for more than just me here when I say I don't want my time wasted by some kid that can't be bothered to take 5 minutes to get proper gear or have half a brain and play his/her role.

I am going to take this that the people who can't be asked to put in an effort should play with their friends because I am sure they are used to you slacking off and not pulling your weight.
