All I'm asking for is a little competency, reliability and respect in player habits.

"TL;DR" by definition has got to be one of the dumbest things yet to come up in internet communications. If you're not bothered to read what you intend to comment on, then how are you supposed to have any real opinion outside of what the title says?
TLDR has been around for a long time, you must be new around the Internetz.

Also, most people on the Internet use anonymity to there advantage. I'm a jerk to people I feel deserve it, I'll trash talk someone in good fun, I'll flash my fancy weapons in people's faces. In real life though, I'm described as polite, humble, respectful, and a nice young man

But on the same level... If you play a sport against me, I'll still trash talk you, I'll slam dunk in your face knowing you can't, etc..

It's a game, it's not the same as real life. Some people take games seriously while others play them for fun.

Although that doesn't really excuse people from being bad... some people are just bad @ everything.

Well, I read everything up to now and saw some jerk posts and other that I am in accord with the OP and others.

To sum it, when i exped, first I would ask to ls friends who wanted to exp; second after I get some I could ask random or ask to others if knew other people wanted to join for the grind.

When there was some newbie I just had to try explain him how to do the work. Even saying which skills he/she had to use because I was seeing they weren't using them. Playing with random can be good and bad. Good to met new friends and bad when you met a retarded dude like post above was mage and refused to heal. That was like instant oust of my party. You don't do your job then don't worth being here wasting our exp.

About people going afk... I usually say when and the time I will be afk, if I was in a party and someone suddenly went afk without saying the time was kick after x time and get him/her back when was back. Is rude to go afk without warning first, specially in that case above being the healer... luckily that party had a good mage and could keep them alive.

    That's all. Have fun exping!

Been around the internet since 1998 - guess I missed that one, thankfully.

I don't understand your contrast between 'real life' and 'just a game'. People play games in real life to win as well, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the point of engaging in ingame activities? Or, are we all just going about things unorganized with a nonchalant attitude that amount to very little time spent achieving something? I play games to win, I don't know about the rest of you.

I have kicked people out of my party, but I really don't like to because it leaves a bad taste in my mouth even if the person really needed to be ejected.

All this is is a reminder of what is acceptable and what is expected from one player to another. If I have to do things I don't like to support me and you for the sake of mutual benefit, then you will too.

Sorry, I'll be more clear. My point was people that would need this information, will not view your thread, or at least not even consider it or take it seriously. Dealing with the person in game was the correct action. Making a thread on this topic here... I'm not sure if anyone will benefit, other than people with common experiences that will be venting/sympathizing alongside you.

What makes you so sure they won't see it and/or take it seriously? Is it a long-winded joke?

People do play games to win, while others play them for fun. Recreational basketball, baseball, company teams etc... will have teams and people who play for FUN. You will also run into those teams that go hard, all out, no win no reward, balls to the wall; they want to win.

Unfortunately not everyone is like you, not everyone plays to win, some play for the experience of doing it or out of boredom. When I use to play FPS games competitively I was quite good, but sometimes I would play and just mess around and have fun. I would lose and I didn't care, it was just for fun. Sometimes I would use only pistols or the 'weak' weapons and have fun just trying to frag people.

Yes, I know this isn't quite the same as an MMO but the principal behind this is that it's a game and it's for fun. Some players log on for an hour a day while others are on all day every day. You can't expect everyone to have the same attitude towards the game.

And as I said before, some people are just not good at video games but they play for fun anyway. Just like in real life some people aren't good at basketball but they play and other people are professional players... this is an MMO and you will have a mix of people who are good, bad, mediocre, stubborn, selfish, hardcore, casual, ignorant, greedy, needy, whiny and drama queens. I think that provides some clarity..

I suppose it's about expectation. My better half is someone who chooses to solo rather than engage in group play, and I want to say that is the perfect avenue for people who just want something to do for a bit. Though, I really don't think any variation of 'core' defines a person who is willing to go out, do their best and have some fun with a successful group of people. I really wouldn't believe you if you told me that your definition of fun is having to stop the action repeatedly because (multiple) someone(s) needs raising or waiting for MP or this or that or anything that amounts to more frustration than fun.

Oh hell no, I don't deal with that stuff. I was giving reason to why it exists though.
Just leave the party, oust the player, or do something else. Those are my preferred choices.

All I can say to this is... that if you go play ice hockey (I am from Finland, we play Ice Hockey!) you need to wear skates (and bring a stick) or you will end up being on your arse the whole match. If you just want to go fool around on the ice, go do it on your own time and stop wasting the time of people who bothered to bring the skates and wanted to play ice hockey.
