    If your biggest reward is leveling content, then you don\\\\'t know much about crafting. I enjoy it because it\\\\'s fun, but it also provides money, glamor, FC airship, making bardings and items from end game primal drops, and new level 70 crafted combat gear that can be melded and used for end game raiding, so no, being able to make leveling gear is so far down the list of prizes from leveling crafters / gatherers, it\\\\'s not even funny. If you worry that finishing main story will make the whole game unfun, then you don\\\\'t like gatherering and crafting because you would want to get on and do it for fun or money or end game stuff afterwards. This has to be a joke or troll thread.

    What does it say? Exactly what I said aleady:
    It's the reason that games include crafting and gathering as part of the game, so that those players who like the idea of making their own equipment and provisions get opportunities to do so.

    If crafted item X is most useful for activity Y, then you should be able to craft it in time to have it for Y. Whether Y happens to be leveling or not is completely beside the point. Would you enjoy making your glamour items as much if you had to have already gotten and glamoured every piece of gear before you could get the recipe for it? Would you enjoy making materials for an airship as much if you needed to already have a fully maxed out airship before you could make any of them? Whatever is craftable should be craftable by the time it's useful, no matter what use that happens to be. Preventing that is bad design.

    Being self sufficient in that way was possible in ARR, and not so much in HW considering areas got gated. You could still craft relevant gear and gather the stuff yourself in HW though (as far as I know) but in Stormblood it doesn't seem to be the case. Sure, you can buy the materials but that completely diminishes the point of self sufficiency.
    The only reason it was sort of in ARR, was due to the odd gear leveling. You really had odd downtime on how well you could even out your ilevel with gear. Accessories was the biggest offender.

    Yes I mentioned HQ gear here's why:
    You really don't need to craft your gear until you work on a secondary. You are also rewarded one piece of loot for your class every time you played a dungeon. They want people to finish MSQ as quickly as possible so we don't get threads crying about how they can't progress in the next expansion because they have to go through story or people crying about spoilers. This is a story driven MMO, and they need to drive people to that end point first . That's why crafting is always secondary. You are given the gear, finish the first thing instead of getting sidetracked with all the other stuff you can do. Sure "we don't pay your sub" but at least have some sensibility in trying to prioritize finishing something and worrying about crafting later.

    Ok, least you said that - but Culinarian really doesn't have this problem. However, you still skipped over correcting yourself from fact and opinion.

    I stated a fact and explained why it's a fact. It's a fact that the reason games include crafting is because it gives players a chance to make things that are then usable within that game. It's opinion that doing so is rewarding and enjoyable (though apparently an opinion that's widely enough held for it to have been worth incorporating a crafting system into just about every MMO I know of and quite a few single player games as well). It's something that some players care about and others don't, certainly, but crafting exists because of the ones who do.

    Opinion =/= Fact.

    You stated it as the greatest reason, but it's not for a primary class you level. Main Scenario is there for your primary, it's a reason (crafting and gathering is) for your secondary, and evidence displays otherwise. This thread is even an opinion about how "Sadistic" SE is. When there's no true evidence to this. They are giving you an easy path to level both crafting and gathering, your personal playstyle on how you want it to play is a problem of your own doing. MSQ takes less time than before.

    No, it's not, and it seems you're the one who doesn't know which is which.

    Prove it. The onus is on the person making the accusation that SE is sadistic.

    Because this thread shows otherwise (the complaining and hyperbole). It's obvious this was made to get people through main scenario, then people could go gather during downtime/queues but nowhere is there a push for people to make gear through two obvious facts. 1. You get the gear during main scenario 2. You get a drop each time you run the dungeon. It's not there to discriminate that someone is leveling their crafter/gatherer at the same time, it's there to push the player through main scenario.
