[Proposal] Instanced Gardening

I like the idea. It would solve everything for me. I care about gardening 100% However I believe it should go with apartments to give that housing type feel. Let it be the apartments community garden that is instanced. Give me that and I won't care about housing plots views or anything else. I think it would satisfy a lot of people too and while it would not solve the problem completely it would definitely help.

If apartments were not limited in number I would agree with you. However, apartments are currently part of the restrictive housing system, from which I am trying to remove the gardening aspect from to make it available to all people at any time. If apartments sell out then the whole instanced gardening for apartments generates the same issue I am proposing to change.

Apartments already have gardening. The only thing SE needs to add is two or three plant flower pots for crossbreeding.

I know this, but if you read the comment from me that you quoted you will see that apartments are a limited resource that WILL sell out if they attached better gardening to that system and we will be right back at the exact same issue I am attempting to solve with instanced gardening that is not attached to the limited resource hosing system.

If you introduce gardening into apartments they will sell out do to the extra functionality and we will again be in the same position we are in now. Instanced gardening would have NO limitations on number of people who would be able to have one.

According to an interview the devs are prepared to increase the number of apartments if needed and the system was built in a way that makes it possible.

Increase to what? Did they say infinity? If they said infinity then sure I can go along with what you suggested about connecting it to apartments. If they are just going to increase it to a new max though then no, I would be against that connection and would still suggest a totally separate system for the instanced gardening.

To over 500 apartments per building which would be over 36000 apartments total excluding the upcoming eastern wards and any future wards. There are around 10000 active characters on medium to high population servers so I really doubt the higher apartment limit would ever be reached. We don't have to have infinite apartments for everyone to have one, we just need more than there are players.

Everyone should have a gardening option, I just think that adding functionality to apartments would help bring life to them and that apartments are an appropriate place to garden since we already have the option. I see them as more than just rp and decoration spaces. You suggested we don't redesign the housing system so I simply utilized the existing system in my suggestion. But your idea isn't bad either.

I would be fine connecting to apartments provided they always have more than the active player base. I know Balmung was bought out when I left the server so they need to implement their expansions soon though.

I want the gardening to be the same for everyone though. The same amount of plots that is. Giving house owners, even size differences in those houses variable sizes is unfair. It literally makes the rich/lucky more rich do to having a more ability to cross in larger quantity.

So sum up: Add instanced gardening onto apartments. Make all players able to have the exact same size of garden, no more house size differences, so that everyone has the same production capabilities.

We need a housing revamp not quick fixes.

To be honest it's not really just a quick fix.

I know so many people who own a house solely for a gardening plot. The house itself is never /rarely used hell some of them are completely empty inside. All they ever do is use the flower beds outside. And those flower beds are the only reason they keep the plot.

So something like this would be great. If apartments had allotments or even balcony areas where we could grow plants that would be great As well.

Be more than a few people out there whose sole reason to own a house is for the garden plot. Many of them might release there plots if they could do there gardening in an allotment or something

They seem to have implemented apartments like most of the housing in which all servers are adjusted or none at all. Since Balmung was the only server to reach that limit they didn't increase the limits across all servers. Unless multiple servers end up reaching the point of needing additional servers they aren't likely to make adjustments.

Disclaimer for that one person that always claims their server (that isn't Balmung) is out of apartments: Every ward (and each subdivision) have their own separate allotment of apartments so start hopping around looking for openings.
