Why is it that people who don't like the answers they get make the false assumption that people didn't read the posts or fail to understand?
Again, skip the cutscene and accept the duty. Simple.
Your claim that you're being "punished" by skipping the scene is objectively false. You can few the scene in your room right after the duty is finished. No difference between your suggestion to "reset" the cutscene. Both result in you being able to see the cutscene after the duty. If it's actually a cutscene, it will be in the book. If it's just dialogue, you can escape out of dialogue and it will reset like you want.
Are you sure? I seem to be missing some cutscenes from the WHM questline 60-70. If I skip them for duty, if they're not in The Unending Journey (and like I said, some seem to be missing), then my only recourse would be either new character or YouTube (assuming they're there). I don't think that's really fair.Your claim that you're being "punished" by skipping the scene is objectively false. You can few the scene in your room right after the duty is finished. White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Again, if it's an actual cutscene (meaning it cuts away and changes the camera angle, etc), you won't be missing it. When you're viewing cutscenes in your book, you have to click the arrow on the right side to see subsequent cutscenes in a "set".Are you sure? If it's just dialogue, you don't have to speed through it, you can just press esc to cancel if the queue pops and it will reset dialogue.
I seem to recall some of the 60-70 WHM quests have multiple of those in a single quest, but the book only displays a single cutscene for the quest (as in, the arrows are "greyed out"). I'm pretty sure that others have reported that there are some cutscenes missing too, though don't quote me on that as I can't remember for 100% certain. That being said, if it is possible to press escape on dialogue to cancel it, it isn't very well explained at all, which I'm sure you'd agree could be problematic. I, in all my 3 years (or not far off), of playing the game, and caring for the stories, never knew this was possible.
EDIT: By "greyed out", I mean when you click them, they do nothing. Sorry, I realised I used a developer term there, so figured I'd clear up the confusion.
This isn't possible if it's a Main Scenario quest. I don't know if all the MSQ cutscenes are in the book (I think they are), but if there's an MSQ cutscene not in the book, then you'd have to resort to either a new character, or YouTube (if it's there), since you cannot cancel a Main Scenario quest.

Yes I wasn't too sure as I have never actually tried it.This isn't possible if it's a Main Scenario quest. DRK questline has another example of an "actual cutscene" that does not appear in the journal. There's a cutscene in the DRK level 56 job quest where you speak with a dying dragon. It has the cut-away, change of camera angle, and so on - it's not just clicking on NPCs to hear them talk. This cutscene does NOT appear in the Unending Journey, which I found to my dismay when I accidentally canceled out of it.
It's possible that all MSQ cutscenes can be found in the book, but there are definitely some non-MSQ cutscenes that cannot. The OP's gripe is reasonable.
