I mean I just do not get it, why repeat the same thing, reskining what was done in 2.0 and 3.0 only different level, while having all these weekly and daily things? isn't there a better way of handling progression and not have the same thing over and over again? What is the point?

What do these weekly caps really achieve? why are they there? Why not do the same effect though weekly and daily bonuses for quests and such (think of the cluster daily/weekly for HW relics) and for those that want to gear several jobs, they can grind it out? What if some patch makes someone's job unwanted spending all those weekly limits on that job? How are they supposed to gear something else with the limits?
It allows players to take healthy breaks and not feel tied down to the game. This has all been said before in countless interviews. Yoshida does not mind "fair weather players." He wants the game built around not needing to constantly stay subbed to get anywhere. He likes the idea of, even his own game, being pretty easy to catch up in at any moment. He doesn't want players to get burned out because you need constant upkeep of the game to stay relevant; he actually thinks that's boring and unhealthy. He wants people to still be able to have a social life.

Basically, if you told Yoshida that you're playing another game because of the lack of content to keep you busy in FFXIV, he'd tell you to please pursue it, and consider coming back later when there's new content in FFXIV. Not even kidding- it's in a YouTube interview with Yoshida and he said it himself. It's kind of 'scary' how he actually understands sitting in front of a monitor for so long can mess you up, other than just being a shut in. That's part of what FFXIV so great [for me] as a player; I can hold down a 60 hour job and keep up with people that don't work simply because of the constraints he had the foresight to put in. I can take care of my family; I didn't need to give up the game simply because I became an adult and attained responsibilities.
