Pretty much, since according to many, FFXI is the devil which is why Tanaka originally tried to make XIV as different from XI (or any FF) as possible, this includes not making "AF gear" and even then, under the original system people would be able to wear 'BLM AF' as a Maurader -- You'd have no benefit but you'd be able to wear it.
