Dragoon Poll (Should DRG have a Wyvern?)

If you guys had noticed during some of the quests in Coerthas, you would have seen Ishgardian Dragoons in the instanced quest areas.

There were three of them. Two in haubergeons and one in red plate armor. They were used in the quest "Into The Dark" at Owl's Nest as fluff pieces to the instance. As a result, I am firmly in the belief that Dragoons are from Ishgard.

Ishgard Hates Dragons + Dragoons are from Ishgard = No Wyvern, Bub.

Wait, what? I think you really misread my post. I was illustrating the fact that Dragoons already exist in the game with connections to Ishgard.

why would a pet wyvern be happily helping a dragoon slay his own dragon kind? that is the question. I wont be surprised if it turns against the dragoon and kills him in his sleep.

So Dragoon is harmful to the community? All joking aside, and yes I understood what you said the first time, I find it hard to take you seriously after a few of the threads you started. I find it absolutely ridiculous as well that someone so blatently advocating against wyverns would start this "poll" in the first place.

Pretty sure wyverns are not dragons, although it is easy to mistake them for one.

i wonder where yoshi gets the idea ppl want a wyvern from in the first place. if these polls have shown anything. then it's the fact that ppl will live quite happy without one. i wonder if there is poll in other language's that have different results to ours. and wonder if that can find out. can they let us know?

Its not my view of dragoon FYI it was the view of dragoon as implemented from the original FF games. Having a name dragon knight or dragoon doesn't mean they have to be a dragon tamer.

A lot of original FF concepts have evolved through the series, and in FFXI the concept of dragoon took a different step. Like it or not FFXI is part of the Final Fantasy franchise, meaning that the idea of a dragoon with or without a wyvern are equally worth in the argument of staying true to Final Fantasy. If you didn't like it that doesn't make it any less worth.

Look at DARK KNIGHT do you see them having a pet demon?

I understand what you mean, but drk is a bad example. Dark Knight is a knight that uses dark magic, that doesn't necessarily connect it to demons, it gives it a connection to dark magic spells. Dragoon does however have a clear connection with dragons and their kind.

You are stuck in FFXI and can't let go of your pet wyvern. All we are asking for the dragoon is to just put back dragoon as it originally were. A STAND ALONE STRONG DD that has a dragon as a mount.

There is already one pure stand alone DD job and that is monk, why not offer variety? The fact that I liked the idea that was implemented in FFXI doesn't mean that I'm stuck there. I have plenty of other preferences for this game from other Final Fantasy games that I have played.

If you want a dragon really bad then why not just have a dragoon have the ability to summon a wyvern and do one massive damage and leave, just like summoning bahamut.

Depending of how this could be developed I wouldn't mind, but the point of a companion is companionship, not a hit and run.

Oh please. Just because it was done in FFXI means it should be done in XIV? Hmm, I could come up with plenty of things using that logic that you'd probably hate.

It's not about FFXI it's about a concept that I and others preferred in one of the Final Fantasy games (FFXI or not).

I understand what you mean about my credibility.

But I started this poll because I am worried about the state of FFXIV's future. I wouldn't mind if we revisited the idea in 2.0, but right now I'd rather just go without a pet.
