I'm just not getting this argument about how Final Fantasy mounts featuring Final Fantasy mobs are supposed to destroy immersion in a Final Fantasy game. People are all for big bulky Magitek mounts, but as soon as someone wants to ride something alive besides a Chocobo it's absurd and will somehow destroy their game experience?

It doesn't fit the Final Fantasy feel? How are you defining this? Final Fantasy games are all over the place with fantastical and crazy elements, but somehow riding a monster defies this? Too unrealistic? Good, this game needs more fantasy in it to make it interesting. Doesn't fit the lore? The lore for these mounts hasn't been written yet, and there's nothing in the current lore that directly contradicts the possibility of them existing.

Also there's the argument that because other MMOs have living mounts, that somehow means that FFXIV shouldn't be allowed to have them because they'd be too similar to said aforementioned MMOs. Really? Are we going to deprive FFXIV of interesting features on the sole grounds other MMOs have tried similar things? Might as well scrap any notions of introducing an AH, housing, or guilds so they don't destroy immersion by being too similar.

C'mon, the game needs exciting additions and fresh thinking more than ever if it's going to survive. Don't stifle the game's creativity and promote blandness by arguing against every interesting new idea that Yoshi comes up with. Let the game grow and stop trying to contain it in a little box of things that have already been established. Let's establish new stuff and make the game a bit more colorful.
