Steam payment HUGE price increase!

Why through Steam? I thought that in other non-NA countries that you could buy FFXIV through the Square-Enix store? I only bought 1.0 through GameStop back in September 2010 on release day, yet all of 2.0 onward was digital (though I did buy the physical collectors editions except the Stormblood one). Then again, I'm Legacy so I only have to pay $9.99 a month...

If anyone know how to contact Jim Sterling about this would be wonderful, Sid did god's work but Jim hits harder on this type of issue and he isn't particularly a fan of SE. I bet that he could give more voice to this.

The prices outside Steam are all synced to USD prices, so they are equally expensive and prohibitive. The prices through Steam were lower because they practiced different prices for Brazil and Russia, using a different conversion that they spent a few years without fiddling with and then suddenly removed completely from subscription prices.
...Curiously enough, the BASE price of the game wasn't changed. So Stormblood is sold at 105,99BRL instead of 69,90USD (which would be something around 200BRL).

I contacted the #1 Boglin Boy, but I do recommend more people try to do the same. Not just for him, but for other outlets, such as Kotaku, Polygon, IGN, Gamerescape and whoever else you can get.

Not all of them. I went to their website. Unless I checked on the wrong part, no, there are no options for digital copies in Brazilian currency. Sure, I could buy it through there, but I'd need a card with authorization for international purchases, plus I'd be dealing with some very atrocious taxes my Country establishes (in short: being gamer in Brazil sucks). Steam is just more convenient and affordable around here.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank all the NA/EU players that can actually see how absurd this is instead of just repeating the same 'but you should pay the same as everyone else' stuff from earlier in this thread. We'll need all the support we can get if we want this situation to change, and, as a fellow player, I'm glad to see people can still care about things in this community even if it doesn't affect them directly. If possible, please help us spread the news and make people understand why this is extremely unfair to all of us. I feel like this is such a big issue but not a lot of people are aware of it and what it could mean for all players.

Agree, it's nice to see people with empathy and people fighting for this with us (contrary of reddit). I just want to thanks everyone that been helping with this cause.

I might get in trouble for this but SE support is abysmal.
Enough is enough. They're a multi billion owned company
and has said nothing to help these people with their ridiculous price jump.
I don't know much about business practices or anything else, but ethically (I think I'm using this word right?) this is wrong.
It's a Video Game for one, shouldn't be costing an arm and a leg to play it.

For gods sake, making such an impactful change in prices withouth any warning should not be in any way how a company as big as this should behave.
This was the biggest Dick Move™ I ever was unlucky enough to see coming from SQENIX.
