If you want control over how much is pulled, the best way of doing that is to queue as tank.

My dude, someone asking you to slow down isn't them insulting your skills as a tank. It's them making a request based on their own comfort level so that the party can be successful. If a new healer asks you to slow down, they're subtly admitting they need the breathing room to get used to the dungeon and there's nothing wrong with that at all.
