So, personally, I'd prefer that SE sticks to a single lancer "job:" Dragoon, and that it DOES have a pet. I did want to throw the Dragon Knight/Dragoon compromise out there, like Engineer proposed, but only to show that there ARE other options. If you people really want a stupid spear class that does insane DPS, then maybe it's *you all, who should compromise. "Lancer" certainly makes sense as an all-spear, no wyvern class, so maybe "Pikeman" or something like it should be the job counterpart: all spear, no wyvern, hardcore DD.
There are plenty of ways to justify having a wyvern as a pet, even with the current Ishgardian Lore. Like I said earlier, as did many others, some wiser, more level-headed Lancers (later to be called DRAGOONS), tamed/befriended the dragons, rather than destroyed them; and as a result, they were granted dragon-like abilities (such as breath moves, jump, etc.) AND were given a young wyvern to assist them in battles.
Now...how SE should go about implementing the pet wyvern into Dragoon's battle style is a little beyond me. I'm sure I could think of something though.
