Also if it's the forced logout, they warn you an hour before, don't blame them for your lack of planning.

Are you sure you get that warning while you are in? I see a number of notifications are missed when in potd, and I'm sure didn't see any red blood line while playing. Maybe a server problem then. My conn was working great and not likely a fault on my side.

As you suggested, better avoid such playing while servers are hammered. Maybe will retry next month, don't wanna get other experiences like that now.
