Very well said Coupain, and I honestly thought your English was absolutely superb. Your's was the post I read yesterday and wanted to respond to as best as I could because you could be onto something very sinister here.

So who do I think Varis saw?

As the saying goes, sometimes it’s not what was said but how it was said that is key. Varis literally stuttered (which exhibits shock) and then sneered incredulously “How dare you?” Simple psychology suggests he saw the face of an ancestor, a descendant, a deceased relative / friend... or a deity personified. My take is that he saw one these four options:
    • An ancestor: His grandfather Solus in youthful form. Someone in this thread had mentioned that maybe he found some seriously epic moisturizer to return his youthful looks. Interesting.
    • A descendant: A second son who he has been quietly or patiently grooming as a replacement for Zenos --- (yes, yet another shameless tout for the Devs to give us our version of Larsa Solidor)
    • A deceased relative or friend: Gaius? Regula?
    • A pseudo deity personified? A "deity" being who is actually an immortal-like Allagan and known only to the Garlean royal family and/or a select few of the aristocratic Houses?
The fourth option opens up a massive new avenue that could be argued in several ways. For one, I'm still in the ideology camp of "Allagan technology may have helped evolve Garlemald" which was generated back in (2012 or 2013?). The premise is that Solus and a handful of the Garlean founding fathers may have had some divine help from either a surviving Allagan or a rogue "god/goddess" who is no longer a part of the Twelve.

So yes, Coupain, even though we're all doing mad speculations, you never know what just might ring true...
