People wanted to say Doma before Garlean rule was slightly better but in reality it was the same and the hatred was just more spread out.

Well then we can hope that Hien will built a better Doma with better Nobles but in the end it was always the common people that suffered, which mostly were probably innocent and only tried to live their life. Yet she decided to make it even worse. And seeing how they were behind Hien as soon as they got some of their motivation back it feels to me that at least the old king was not that bad or they might not have trusted him that much.

it certainly should be difficult considering for Hien he will have to deal with the surviving corrupt elements of the old Doma Government since Yotsuyu only focused on the Doma region of Othard most likely some corrupt Nobles may have escaped to other areas of Othard. Hien is young and has no experience ruling the land and most likely he may learn some dark actions his father had to turn a blind eye to because of political reasons.

Lyse is most likely going have to deal with the younger generation of Al Mhigo since they only grew up knowing Garlean Rule. The 4.0 story made a heavy focus on how the young generation will be trouble in the future and difficult to convince they can make a better life outside of Garlean rule.

If anything it is most likely these corrupt nobles remained in power because of the political backlash that would happen if Hien's father went on a crusade to purge all corruption within the government. While Hien's fater was a good king, he most likely had to turn a blind eye to a lot of corruption from within due to how long term this has been going on before even Hien's father rule. It would be no surprise if some escaped and have been in hiding until 4.X until they got word of Doma liberation and return now to reclaim their "property"

The SAM job storyline put a heavy focus that the corruption was so bad it lingers even now that a Samurai faction was created by extremists to destroy the entire Othard Government into nothing so they can rebuild from the ground up.

As much as I would love the ugly on the inside pretty on the outside route they went with HW I think they are going out of their way to do the opposite for SB so as much I would love to see the ugly side of the "good guys" I doubt we will with the Garleans on the table right now.

Well it would be nice since I found it way to easy to free those two states from Garlean hands..makes you feel like Garlemald is no threat which should not be true. But seeing how they went with Ishgard I am not really sure if they go that deep down. Yet I am not really sure what they will tell us in the following patches.

@EdwinLi: Well I do believe that we will see a better Doma at the end but I fear that you can never really cut away any kind of corruption. Its just human nature and you will always have some that are bad apples but I wish that it will get much better for the common people.

Honestly, the old Doma before Garlean rule was hardly any different from how Yotsuyu treated the Domans. From the lore the old government was mostly rule by corrupt Nobles who basically did what Yutsuyu did but since there was multiple Nobles doing this the hatred was far more spread out. When Yotsuyu took control she just basically continued what these corrupt Nobles been doing all this time but instead became the single focus of it since there was no longer multiple people doing this.

Yotsuyu flat out said she wanted to torture the entire country to death. No matter how bad the old nobility might have been, I doubt they were that batshit insane.

I can't really agree with it being Gaius. This scene with the Emperor served to set up the expectation that Elidibus's face reveal will be something the player should look forward to, but did we ever see Gaius unmasked? If not, the facial reveal would just be a big "who's that? Oh, it's supposed to be Gaius? Cool!" moment, rather than a "oh snap, it's THAT guy!" moment.

I'm not sure how big a fan I am of it being the scientist, although the scientist did get a big ole close-up, and echo research combined with the fact that during his fight he can straight up rip someone's soul out of their body (which seems more impressive than echo, imo) makes me think he may have more up his sleeve than what we saw before offing him.

Also as for other plot points, my main hope for the story at this point is to see the Ame-no-Habakiri as a recurring plot point.

Zenos's first encounter with the WoL breaking one of his swords seemed like a pretty clear plot device used specifically to get a new mysterious and untested sword into his hands (delivered by Yotsuyu from the red Kojin's treasury). Plus, the first time Zenos tries it out, he goes all black-and-red SSJ, which is coincidentally the same colors used by the Art of the Sword attack that the Ame-no-Habakiri spawns in his boss fight, which leads me to think that Zenos's black-and-red SSJ bit in Yanxia isn't his own doing, but some kind of empowering curse from the sword.

It's also got a pretty ominous name compared to his other swords just being "The Storm" and "The Squall".

Ame-no-Habakiri

Interesting thing about Ame-no-Habakiri is the legend about it in real life.

Ame-no-Habakiri is the sword that belonged to Susanoo which he used to slay Yamata no Orochi in Japanese's mythology.

You can see SE did put effort for getting Ame-no-Habakiri into this game right as it was obtained from among Susanoo's treasures.

I can only guess this may be a foreshadowing for a Yamata no Orochi Primal.

A part of me hope if there maybe a Yamata no orochi primal fight in the future that we may obtain Ame-no-Habakiri as a reward for that MSQ. I know it would be exclusive to Samurai Job but Paladin got their own exclusive Shield skin from 3.X MSQ.

I thought Amanomarakumo was that sword that defeated Orochi and was one of 3 of Japan's sacred treasures.
