Yeah think limiting it to 1 per server seems fine, especially if they made it so every character you had for that server had full rights to it. I noticed after the influx of refugees into Mateus a few people took advantage of the gil they could bring over and bought out several plots, a couple of them nearly buying up a whole ward's worth so yeah... doesnt seem right when new and returning people/free companies want them as well. Only other solutions can really see is adding a small yard/balcony to apartments so you have something closer to a small house, limited something like 1/2 of houses to only free companies of which they may only have 1, or just simply adding rent to plots 100k-200k a week or so, to make holding those vast amount of plots extremely difficult.

I wanted places to RP where there aren't creepy OOC trolls staring at me! But ok? Whenever I read stuff like this I think about leveling more alts to 50, and buying more houses. It's just funny. If you want it, go get it. I've helped a lot of people get houses. On the hour every hour check the crystal, if I can do it on Balmung? You can do it anywhere.

Why should someone have to spend every hour they play camping a crystal because some selfish person wants to RP with a limited commodity? Selfish, rude, greedy and inconsiderate. People like you are part of the problem.

I have been waiting for years to get a house for my FC and due to work do not have the time to camp at a crystal waiting for a space to proc.

All I want is a place for my FC friends to hang out and chill. Just adds a sense of tangible community to the group.

I'm hoping when the new district opens I can take a day off work and get there asap XD

Simple fact of the matter is the system is open to abuse and SE needs to address this before they go live with Shirogane. It'll be interesting to see what Yoshi-P has to say in the upcoming live letter.

First things first, we're already beyond the point of The Lochs (though I almost woke my parents up laughing at that one).

As for my housing: Back on Odin I had an apartment and the FC I was in had a small house (but it wasn't my FC). On Louisoix, the FC I'm in have a small house (not my FC), and I share a medium house with another player. Don't even own so much as an apartment here, though I could afford a small house of my own.

As for the live letter, I think Yoshi's just gonna be like "We want to create a sense of community by keeping housing in wards. Working as intended." - maybe I'm just being pessimistic here but I don't see the problem ever being fixed... People like the current system as well which further complicates matters since if you change it, you're gonna annoy them. There's no way for SE to please everyone here... at least with the status quo we're used to it, even if we don't like it. I fear if they change it the flames will be fanned with much more vindication...

I can't see much being changed either, however I'm hoping with the new servers/data center they will at least be able to expand. This is very much a matter of do you please the few loyal fans or the many new ones, there is no right answer but if they alienate new/casual players to much they risk losing the bulk of their income. Now I don't think that this housing issue is going to be the main reason why people leave I think it's just one of many little things and you don't want players to feel like they can't access content in a subscription based game.
I've heard you can still get houses even in high pop servers if you camp the boards but there is a lot of contradicting information.

Mateus, the smallest populated server. Doesn't surprise me they own 1 ward. I find it [more] astonishing they managed to acquire 84 million gil on that server (assuming it wasn't a transferred character, but probably was). However, yes, they've not done anything wrong. There's nothing in the rules against owning multiple houses. The only things against the rules are selling houses (players cannot guarantee the sale of a house, only the ability to relinquish the plot) or house flipping (buying with the intent of selling later).

That being said, I have a small on my main as well as a two-person FC with a small. My husband has a small and shares it with me (I gave him the gil for it) and my ALT has a small. Looking to buy my neighbor's medium when Shirogane comes out and hoping to lose my ALT's small.

Honestly, there should be one house that is linked to the Mogstation that anyone can buy and be maintained much like extra retainers (I only suggest this because it DOES take server space). It's per account- it's accessed like an inn's room. Only you can access it, you cannot share it. You can upgrade it (from small all the way to mansion). Can have gardens. All ALTs on the account have access to it. It's personal only- FCs cannot use it. Let the open world, visit-able houses be reverted back to FC-only (refund the value of the house + it's furniture much like the transfer incentives).

I always wondered how people afford such expensive houses in this game. I myself have never owned that much money so I guess unless I'm crafting or finding really rare items my chances of owning a home is basically impossible because of the amount of money it costs.

Most people do not like the system at all. I wonder what's more important, pleasing a handful of RPers who want a bunch of trophy houses or the hundreds of people who would finally have access to housing. /think

Here's the thing, let's say they made these changes, what's to stop people making several service accounts (I have a friend with 3 active service accounts for example), to get housing on each of them. And let's say even if that didn't happen and it was 1 personal house per account per server, even then there still wouldn't be enough housing on many servers. And when I put forward the idea of instanced housing (as an extension of the current housing), it got shot down instantly. Like I said, some people like the current system.

Plus, let's factor in that SE don't want to admit they messed up with housing, and I don't think we'll get the changes we need for housing.

EDIT: Don't take me for liking the current system, I do not, and I think more needs to be done. But, I just don't see SE doing anything about it because that would be an admission they messed up on housing.
