There are multiple problem in this game. On this problem, I won't even judge SE on weher killing this meta is good or bad, even if I don't personally like it. But the premise of the OP is "Ok, it's pretty clear they want to do that, how can we contribute so that the final result is still enjoyable" instead of "Let's keep manifesting until they back up".

Yes, you could say it's weird, but it's tied to a pointless stat inflation. Basically, they should remove PIE and VIT completely, making HP and MP scale only with your level and your job, and adjust MP cost and mitigation with those.

If Samurai was only able to wear VIT accessories from the get go, you wouldn't even ask yourself which accessories to use, so it's kind of moot point, especially now that bonus points have disappeared.

For me, the simple fact that your amor increases your damage output is a silly choice right from the start...
