I'm not entirely sure if it works the way I think it does, but I noticed that if you Excog before a tank buster, you don't notice the heal, but the tank takes less damage, almost like an Adlo. Like it's subtracting the heal they would have gotten from the damage they're going to receive before the final damage comes in. I've actually saved a few tanks with it whereas otherwise they would have died from the attack under the same circumstances. If what I noticed is correct, its actually useful since it's basically an adlo without the cast.
