Then SEPARATE BALMUNG IN 2 SERVERS for God's sake !
Jeez everytime there is issues it's about Balmung beeing overpopulated, split it in 2 servers and stop screwing others players game
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

the stuck in a middle of a craft thing seems simple enough for SE to fix without stuffing us all about, frankly. Time the craft, if it's not finished in 10 minutes (or whatever) end it. Then the user will log out as usual after the 30 mins. Since the launch, I've probably spent 20 hours just sitting in the login que, and have never done a single duty - new or old, roulette or whatever - without at least a 30 minute wait. SE really need to up their game to cover the amount of users they are dealing with, and that is the bottom line in the end. Users blaming other users for SE's lack of planning isn't cutting it.
Never commented on it being fair one way or the other. Please, though, tell me how your idea is fair.
Yes, because it is totally just Balmung, and the entirety of it.
For what it's worth, it's a partial idea, aimed to fix one part of the issue.

Blame Balmung for this....
People have other means of afk. Auto run into a wall. Talk with an NPC. ~Quit moping, get hoping~
It might be a presumptuous for me to guess, but it likely has to to do with server architecture rather than malice towards the Aether server cluster users. The housing servers that people are afk crafting in are likely shared between the servers on the cluster, the same goes for the lobby and instance servers too. To properly force afkers in Balmung to log off, they have to take down these servers for everyone rather than trying to target the Balmungers in them which is not only more time consuming and inefficient but also far more error proned. At that point you may as well just have an entire server cluster purge rather than just the shared ones, since the server architecture probably isn't meant to deal with the complete absence of the shared servers.
Don't grab your torches and pitchforks yet, these actions are perfectly reasonable when viewed not as an act of malice or malevolence but instead as basic protocols that they perform all the time for forcing people off for maintenance periods.
Do you realize that being afk for hours could be considered like a violation of ToS that makes they could just ban your account rather than just kicking afk players?
Create a new server dedicated to spliting Balmung, send there every new players and give advantages to FC / people moving.
If they refuse to move, forget them and stop punishing other players
