    It's painful and at the same a bit comforting seeing that so many alongside me are mourning what they did to summoner. I'm not alone. And my sch brother and sisters, I know you feel the same.


    It was my favorite job, and now I don't even want to touch it. I may sound a bit melodramatic but it feels like losing a friend in a way.
    I was looking forward to seeing some tweaks here and there on all the jobs in Stormblood. They didn't tweak summoner though, they changed it into something completely different than what it used to be.

    It had such a wonderful flow and rhythm to it before. Now it's clunky and extremely unforgiving. They were suppose to reduce that shit in Stormblood. They made it worse for us!

    We didn't need this extreme overhaul! How did they even come up with this? Who asked for this? Was there anyone who wanted us to go from deliciously melting mobs with our dots and aoe to... ruin spamming and the flustercluck that is aetherflow and dreadwyrm now? I don't want a flashy blue dragon that looks like it could loose a few and gets in the way! I want my fun, engaging, satisfying summoner back!

    I know I won't though. I put my grimoire down and picked up the rapier instead. I now play a job that has flow to it again.

    And lastly, what curather said:
    Sustain was a killer for me...who removes that on a pet class...

    The lack of Sustain feels very strange to me, even as a SCH... But I do see what SE was doing with the job as a healer as we now have access to Lucid Dreaming and Largesse. I don't feel underpowered as a healer so much as I have a different kit.

    While I fully expect 4.05, 4.1, or whatever the first major patch is to bring some intense balance tweaking to all the classes, I do agree that Summoners losing Sustain is a terrible nerf as it was a necessary part of the kit to maintain the Egi. Spur and Rouse can only do so much to boost defenses, Physic is the weakest heal of the pet jobs and barely a bandaid on SMN.

    I feel a SMN losing their pet is a much harder hit than a SCH doing the same, as we have Dissipation ("eat the fairy for mp") as an emergency mana boost to save ourselves. We can deal with losing our heal turret better than the DPS.

    So, yes, please bring back Sustain.

    Back in the closed beta of ARR, the job I wanted to play was Summoner, and I could not so I played Black Mage. And at launch the job I wanted to play was Summoner and well, again I could not, so I started with Black Mage again. I've always loved to play casters, pet classes, archers, rogue/burglar/thief/ninja/assassin that uses stealth and daggers. Here Summoners are both casters and pet class so that makes me double excited. Even though the forums probably shows my main is Black Mage, I'm a Summoner in my heart. I was disapointed we did not get more pets in Heavensward, but I liked the new skills like Tri-Disaster that allows us to toss our DoT on the moves or as finisher, and I don't remember Summoner being nerfed when Heavensward launched. So I'm saddened that in Stormblood our job got nerfed that badly. I hope SE fixes the job and remove the nerf bat. And make Physicks heal decently more. I've never really used Sustain but I use Physick instead, but with our HP being quite large Physick does not heal much.

    Common sense is that they balanced summoner together with all the classes in mind, i think they knew which route they were going for. But whatever, this forum is mostly just full of complaints, which are forgotten in a week.

    There was no common sense in the summoner rework. How much common sense is there in taking away our pet heal? How about nerfing most of our spells by 30-55 potency then turning around and buffing most other classes?

    Smn was balanced in heavensward. Great for Aoes, but certainly didn't do the dps of a machinist.

    Classes like Ninja/Dragoon/Machinist had their tp costs reduced and potency increased across the board. Dragoon got some skills buffed 80 potency, while Ninjas got their mudras buffed as well.

    All these classes with Red Mage especially outperform overshadow and outclass Smn. And conidering the 14 pages of people complaining about Smn getting nerfed, Highly doubtful it will be forgotten anytime soon.

    Lacking. Especially when classes like Black Mage get's enochian and foul every 30 seconds. Foul is a 650 potency move that can be used twice per minute. Samurai can use it's 720 potency move roughly every 20 seconds. Red Mage can use a 420 Potency move every 25 seconds for free.

    Summoner gets death flare - 400 potency every minute and ahk morn 680 potency is locked behind a two minute window requiring two stacks of aetherflow to use.

    I dont really understand your question, but aetherflow works like that you can activate aetherflow before combat and wait 1min before pull that allow you use two aetherflows in the opener and summoner damage become extremely high in the first minutes. Is there any other class that get so much benefit from activating cooldowns 1min before combat start? Thats why you can see misleading numbers if the encounter is under 5min. 10min parse would be most accurate because majority of savage content take around 10min once content is in progress and relevant.
