    On another note, that could be their glass mechanic, building up resources by being hit and spending them on damage/mitigation/support. Not stance dancing like other tanks, but by properly using resource management.

    Personally I feel that Shogun for the role of tank, is still within the realm of possibility as is Onmyouji (oracles in english). I feel that since Hingashi is still locked to us, perhaps when it is opened in the future, we could get access to those jobs.

    If you're going off Geomancer from AST, you'll probably have to add Necromancer potentially to that as there are strong hints at it in the RDM story so far, but at least till 60, it hasn't been officially referenced as "Necromancy" yet.

    This was more vampire, player skill-esque type stuff though. Not lore/story/demonic influence type stuff like PotD. I can't really say more since I haven't done past the 60 quest.

    We had necromancy in PotD, though I dunno if you want to count that since Nybeth was a reference to another game. I vaguely remember the quest text saying that it would incur the wrath of the Elementals, but they might just handwave that.

    I am totally down for Blue Mage in this game. I personally wouldn't even mind if they're stuck to only getting monster abilities through job quests. And a thought occurred to me that if they wanted to keep the aspect of going to the overworld and find monsters to gain abilities, wouldn't it be possible to just make this portion completely optional by just making the abilities we can find as a sort of glamour for the main monster abilities they would gain from said job quests?

    Like how summoners get glamour for their egi.

    I think that SE is overthinking how to add BLU. As others have said you can have BLU fit with the rules of this game through default monster spells that you would automatically have unlocked from 1-80. And to keep the "hunting" aspect just add a unique UI for BLU that is for spell glamour. For instance you start off with let say goblin punch but in your UI you change the animation to tonberry stab or something similar.

    As for the role I could see it as a tank, but I would like to be the opposite of RDM, a Mage mostly in the frontlines with short backline rotation.

    Or I had a wild idea of how BLU could also work in this game. As we know BLU isn't really tied to any weapon in the series, so what if like lulu from FFX you equipped puppets as your primary weapon and based on the puppet you equip all your spells would be glamoured into an alternate form of the same spell.

    For example at lv50 your default puppet is a Blue Pom Moogle and some abilities you get are for example mog cure and mog punch, then at level 70 you equip a chocobo puppet and those abilities change into chocobo cure and chocobo kick (same attributes). And all of your spells are executed through the puppet similar to how lulu does her auto attack. I know it's far fetched and different but it keeps the BLU flavor and offers new spell animations with each possible patch. Heck they could even have some higher ilv puppet be the same to save development time. And add some rare cash shop ones like behemoth puppet.

    I know a lot of people are gunning for BLU to be a tank, but I just really can't see it. It's historically always been a support/damage hybrid of sorts. I could see it either being a healer or a DPS, but not really ever a tank. I also really doubt they'd take a job that has always been that support/damage hybrid and suddenly turn it into a tank for no real reason, when they haven't done anything similar with any other jobs.

    I desperately want to see BLU in this game, but definitely not as a tank.
