    Schs! What roles skills to take?

    We only get five and I want them all. Which ones are you taking for the majority of content? Alright, so we have to take Esuna and E4E. Why did they take away leeches? WHY?! (Don't mention our fairy. Please don't mention that.) SC, Largesse, and protect are awesome to have. But then we can't have CS or Lucid Dreaming (not to mention the 'pull idiot out of fire' spell too).

    I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be. I realize this. It was so easy on my SMNer. XD So, what are ya'll taking?

    As a WHM I take Largesse, Swift Cast, Lucid Dreaming, Esuna, and Protect/E4E. I use Protect as needed and then switch to E4E.

    IMO Cleric Stance is utter garbage, Break/Sure Cast are too situational, and Rescue is too strange/trolly as well as being probably the most situational ability in the game.

    I thought about switching protect and E4E around but I've done that in the past (when I've healed the lvl 15 or so dungeons and you can only have one cross class skill) and there's always that CD on all your spells. Isn't that still a thing? I know they took that off in the open world but did they do it in dungeons/raids too? My only concern is the tanks who pull before you can finish casting protect initially, much less waiting for a reset of skills.

    I've healed in games that have similar spells and it really is very nice, once you get past the strangeness of it. You know, like how end game dungeons have the one shot mechanics but you realize a dps is lagging a bit, it'll save you from rezzing them. A free, instant spell is better than a 2.7k rez with a long cast time (if SC is on CD.) So having used it before in other games does make me inclined to take it. It can be trolly though. In WoW, if you positioned yourself right, you could kill that annoying tank or DPS (you just have to be in the same party.) XD And tanks are like "wtf!" and you can say "STOP STANDING IN BAD or I'm gunna put you in the corner!"

    Nope, no cooldown. If you look at the other topics in this sub-forum, there's a makro that replaces a role skill with protect, casts it, and then puts the other skill back in the slot. Free protect without using up a slot, but only usable out of combat.

    My Duty Finder set up would be:

    Esuna, Swiftcast, Lucid Dreaming, Protect, E4E in that order. Could make a case for Cleric Stance, but SCH's aoe in dungeons is so laughable that I don't know if it's even worth it.

    I don't think SCH needs Largesse for DF content, since Rouse and Fey Illum are still a thing, and after the fairy nerfs I think our own healing is more supplementary than hers.

    Some nice changes are the no cooldown on switching abilities, and the fact that we now have access to all Role Abilities we have set regardless of the level of the instance. So I can jump into Sastasha and still have all 5 of my role abilities.

    You mean there's more than 5 options? Honestly, at this point all of the healer 'role skills' are pretty much chosen for us. Protect, Esuna, Lucid Dreaming, Swift Cast, Largesse. There's an argument to be had for swapping out Protect for Eye for an Eye after it's been cast, but it's more bother than I can care for given the fast pace of most runs and the lack of a good time to swap skills.

    Everything else is pretty much worthless, and I include Cleric Stance in that. If it retained the 10% damage boost it might have some merit, but even then it still wouldn't earn a spot on my hotbar.

    This is my current allotment also, with Largesse and Cleric Stance occupying my "maybe" spots. Lucid Dreaming is practically required, Esuna is sometimes needless but sometimes essential, Protect is good to have for roulettes, and I miss Eye for an Eye (useful for big add pulls). Swiftcast is a little less useful than it was with the shadowflare change, but is a great tool for resummoning the fairy and for swift-casting raise.

    Largesse might be useful for difficult content, so it's possible I could swap it in later if one of the five isn't needed. Surecast is also interesting as it prevents knockback, which could be an interesting save mechanic in a fight like Titan/Sephirot, so it's under consideration. Cleric Stance is a really weak benefit and probably won't see use outside of the most extreme of raiding DPS checks. Break is a joke and won't be anywhere unless you specifically need a healer to heavy something, and Rescue is for healers who either routinely run difficult content with bad players, which I do not, though you can make a case for it in raiding to left a melee get in that "one more hit"... though I doubt anyone would.

    Largesse + Fey Illumination will give you a very nice Adlo + Deployment Tactics.

    Agreed.

    10% would be double what it is now, but right now its so utter trash that doubling it isn't going to do anything.

    5% for 15s with a 90s cooldown is an utter joke, and not worth the slot by a long shot. The only Role skill that is worse is break.
