Uhh right now i think the three main one you need is protect, lucid dreaming and swiftcast. the other two can be up to your preference and if your soloing. soloing i suggest cleric its a nice boost even if it shit right now, we as sch's already dont have much damage anything else helps to be honest. esuna has its merits in most content unless you know for sure you dont need it. largesse is a pretty good skill in tight spots for sch's especially with the eos nerf and fey nerf, it's saved me on susano with two sch's healing that fight kind of rough. eye for and eye to be honest is great in raids and 8 mans but besides that i wouldnt take it.

Cleric stance, protect, rescue, E4E, and Swiftcast. Esuna is useless if there's no debuffs to cleanse, which there rarely are, and Largesse doesn't strike me as particularly necessary, particularly for SCH. They've been doing just fine this long in content, no reason to think you'd need it suddenly, particularly for old content.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that surecast now negates knockback and draw in effects prior to use on spell? This has been handy for me in so many instances so far, think about it. Sure cast has earned a place on all my bars it can for now.
I'm conflicted on this. While it's useful, a lot of knockback moves can also be avoided with a strong enough adlo shield (see: Shiva EX). Furthermore it's typically easier to just deal with knockback mechanics rather than preempt them with a buff since none of our heals take all that long to cast.
Surecast is useful, and this game does love its primal knockbacks (see: Bismarck, Ravana, Sephirot, and so on). But you can also typically avoid being pushed back by doing mechanics, and unlike DPS such as BLM you don't really gain a lot for eating a move to finish your cast, even if it means one less Broil.
It's fun, though. Remember Shiva's bow and how it knocks you across the arena? Surecast lets you remember what it felt like to Perfect Dodge that **** as a Ninja before they nerfed it. Good stuff. <3

Or you can take Rescue to take someone with you![]()
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh

i take largesse, swift cast, lucid dreaming, esuna, and protect on my whm
the others are, meh...

Yeah, this is my exact set up as AST. I might throw in a Surecast just for funsies one day. But not for anything serious. It's way too situational whereas the others will always have a use, either in emergencies or for general importance. You mean there's more than 5 options? Honestly, at this point all of the healer 'role skills' are pretty much chosen for us. Protect, Esuna, Lucid Dreaming, Swift Cast, Largesse. There's an argument to be had for swapping out Protect for Eye for an Eye after it's been cast, but it's more bother than I can care for given the fast pace of most runs and the lack of a good time to swap skills.
As an AST main, while it's kind of annoying having these dedicated slots taken up, I can only imagine what it's like for WHM to feel like nothing has changed. Largesse is nerfed for them, while "Shroud" was essentially buffed to Lucid. I wish protect was WHM exclusive, but had an effect similar to PvP version. SCH can keep E4E. That really felt more SCH, and I know I'm not going to take up a slot for that ability. Also, the cooldown is pretty long, and I have no idea why.

A lot of the 60+ dungeons don't require ESUNA surprisingly. I would suggest toggling it for something else.
Only:
Mettle
and
Expert:
Kugane that i had to use Esuna.

So far, I've been using Largesse, Lucid Dreaming, Protect, Esuna, and Swiftcast. I'm going to play around with Eye for an Eye, but never really cared for it much since it's a one in five chance. Only became useful to me when I got Deployment Tactics.
Interesting. I might swap it for Eye for an Eye then.
