    Yeah, but looking "neat" won't get us through that hard instance... For that you need a viable character... and unless there's something hidden that we don't know about...

    The FFXIV SMN will become the old FFXI SMN... ie... looks cool while getting its ass kicked.

    And I doubt anyone but the most superficial people will play the job at that point... and then only until their friends say... "psst... look dude we like you, but..... if you want to come along, you know.... play something else, because you really just can't pull your weight as a SMN".

    And that will end that real quick.

    I agree, it seems totally willy nilly, and completely without thought.

    I am glad Painflare did not get nerfed too, so there is that... but its one of the few things that didn't.

    But yeah you may as well remove the pre-reqs for the DoTs at this point for Fester if its only 200 potency...

    If what that description ACTUALLY meant to say was 200 each for 400, then its a different story... but the way it reads... well... its 200 potency.

    Yeah it doesn't make any sense.

    Some interesting thing I heard was Garuda's Contagion is now a 10% magic resistance debuff for 15s (Foe's Requiem) and Radiant Shield was rework to apply a 2% physical damage debuff every time a player (tank) is hit. Add devotion to that, we gain support utilities to make up for the dps hit. This might change the game play of Egi's to rotate swap them out to maximize these debuffs. Also he mention it seems like you'll be able pull off two Demi-Bahamut Ahk Morn in the 20s window.

    I'm honestly looking forward to playing Summoner again in 4.0

    P.S. I still hope we see Shiva, Leviathan, and Ramuh Egi's for Glamour...

    SMN's damage will come mostly from Bahamut and using correctly DwT and DaT.

    Yes, bane got nerfed but who cares? Single target damaged got drastically increased thanks to Bahamut and now we Devotion, which will be a very welcome addition to raids.

    You guys are crying over nothing, pretty much.

    well, we got ...um...ruin 4 which is same potency with ruin 3 now and only 15% to proc, also a side note that they nerf ruin 3 now /s

    Yeah it doesn't make any sense.
    Assuming fester is 200 potency it's possible we could be encouraged to use ruin III more. Energy drain gives us mp which could fuel more ruin III while fishing for ruin IV procs. Granted that sounds boring as all hell. It is starting to sound like all smn does all day is spam ruin.

    Yeah but people already do that. Ruin 3 is spammed between all techniques.

    Fester is the addition to the spam not outside of it.

    So basically you're looking at

    (DoTs)>Fester>Ruin 3>Ruin 3>Ruin 3> Fester> and so on until DWT and Deathflare, on a single target boss mob.

    IF Fester becomes only 200 potency it will be pointless to even use...

    Then it will just be Painflare>Painflare>Painflare>DWT... so even Ruin 3 spam would be pointless other than one or two.

    Actually no... it will be even WORSE for Raids...

    Because NOW when the Boss mob goes invulnerable on you... you lose ALL your damage... not just a small portion that you can halt or postpone briefly.

    It actually screwed us there too...

    Its worse than just losing a Deathflare... you lose the Deathflare + Ruin 3 bonus + Bahamet Damage... which if I read it right WILL be our primary damage for raids... so yeah it really hosed us.

    Yeah but that will burn your mp too fast, forcing you down to ruin eventually. Drain would make up some of that mp deficit. As far as using painflare, that too of course but we'll still have to ruin spam cause DWT is still limited by the cooldown on aetherflow.

    Looking at other job video, the "Bane" AoE nerf less about SMN and more about slowing down speed runs in my opinion. MCH Biship Turret got hit with the same nerf for example.

    This is a very good point and something SE needs to look at. It feels like they need to add a trait to it like Increases a pet's physical and magical attack power by 40% for 10s to make up for Spur lose.

    Some thing has to change, fester should just be removed, if painflare is the same potency with additional damage to other targets. I feel if one of them has an error in its to tip I can't go live like that or fester may as well not exist.

    Well possibly for some people... but to be honest

    ....I never run out of Ruin 3 spam even in Raids,

    The only time I've come close is the Lava Scorpion Fight at the end in Sohm Al Hard.

    Yeah constant Ruin 3 spam is the norm, not the exception. Admittedly though I don't know what your iLvL is... if you're still at iLvl 200 it may not be possible at that Gear Score.
