It's 2017, when can we get a prominent LGBT character in the storyline?

First of all, it being "easy" or "hard" to implement has absolutely nothing to do with it being an agenda or not.

You say that in this and other threads you feel negativity towards your community?
It´s very easy to know why.

We are tired beyond description of the constant moaning and crying for spotlight and attention from the LGBTBLMFEMINISTNEUROATYPICAL communities because it has gotten so out of control and so wide and all-encompassing that you can no longer even play a cute tiny Nintendo3DS game without there having been 4 months of discussions, drama and Nintendo apologies about a character´s panties or the marriage options or whether a head petting scene is objectifying or unfair because male characters cannot do it to other male characters.

It´s already everywhere, in the newspapers, in the news, in any tv show, in comedy, in art, and even in the workplace discussions and the last thing we need is for it to invade and become a main topic even in a fantasy world where we go to kill dragons with glowy swords to relax.

This is why there´s an "anti-sjw" sentiment in this and many other threads.
Because we are frankly TIRED of you.


If you go to the Zelda forums, you read nothing but threads about wanting a Female Link and how offensive it is that Nintendo has said that Sheik is Female and not trans.

You go to the Pokémon boards and people ask why can´t same-gender Pokémon produce eggs.

You go to the Metroid forums, and everyone wonders when is Samus going to get a girlfriend

You go to WoW´s forums, and people want the new king of the humans to be gay.

You go to Tera, and there´s 7 year old and still running threads about how everything is objectifying.

You play Overwatch and they removed 3 animations because a daughter and her mom got pissed off at a butt.

I could go on and on but i think my point is already across and easy to understand.

We want to go back to being allowed to enjoy games as they are offered to us without having to wonder if next week we are going to get a patch that modifies it as to keep some random loud minority happy and quiet or which other costume is going to get canceled because an aunt is upset or which game is never going to leave the Japanese shores because it´s not progressive enough.

Videogames ARE NOT the place for these discussions.

And just to clarify, i am not necessarily saying that YOU personally want to push anything.
I am just talking in general terms here and why this kind of thread usually ends up poorly.

How did Livia being in love with Gaius move the story? Would it have made an impact on the story if both of them were male or both were female?

Did the explanation of 1.0/2.0 Nael really change or move the story?

How does Mide and Dayan being a heterosexual couple affect the story that Mide and Dayana would make it any lesser? Why would it move it along any less?

Not sure about the first two since I don't feel like there was enough information on either of those in their respective parts of the story. As for Mide and Dayan, given how much more visually pronounced that relationship was, my guess is that heads would've rolled in other countries and other cultures if it was Mide and "Dayana". I'm sure it could've been passed off via some sort of context change in those cultures as siblings or something, but I'm sure you understand the different dilemma that would cause.

A major thing you have to remember is that this game is sold in places where LGBT relationships are usually frowned upon (including several parts of Japan), which is why I ask for reasoning to move the story along: unless it's portrayed as some "forbidden love" or there's some major change in context or otherwise a REALLY good reason for a relationship among two LGBTQ NPCs, it'll never fly past the local audience that the game is made for.

I'd like to know how what I said is any different from what you said. You're ok with it in the side quests but not in the main story line because romance is irrelevant? And yet we've seen 'main story characters' who express relations that would be 'straight'.

And yet a casual comment of Yotsuyu hated Domans because they killed her two mothers in the attempted uprising, it'd be pushing it I'm taking it? Or something casual in the Resistance in Rhalgr's Reach talking about people never knowing that there was a female in Fordola's family is probably too much and pushing it.

I mean, I didn't read OP's post because, really it's Skyrior but I didn't see where he said he wanted a love story? In fact, I didn't even say it needed a love story?? I didn't read all of the pages of this thread but recently quoted stuff didn't say it had to be a love story?

Tons of other games proudced by other publishers have all featured prominent LGBT characters in the storyline as of late. Yet FFXIV seems conspicuously lacking in this regard.

Thousands of LGBT players play this game, yet it seems there isn't enough representation in Eorzea. There are thousands of LGBT Warrior of Lights, but it struggles the mind to even think of one single instance of an LGBT character in the lore.

Square Enix, it is 2017. It's about time you, as a massive corporation with huge worldwide influence and an enviable fanbase size, make a statement that promotes love and triumphs against hate. By doing so you will not only make your fanbase proud, you'll also take a stance against the evils of this world and cast light upon the shadows of society. Defeating homophobia and transphobia starts here, today, in Eorzea.

I don't see anything but asking for representation in the cast. I agree with those who say "Well a ton of characters haven't expressed if they are or not," that they could be! We don't know. But we have a lot of confirmed pairs or those who are interested in the other gender. Having representation from a character who is prominent in the storyline does not mean "There needs to be a love story" and I'm not sure where you got that from my posts. I can't even see why you get it from OP's.

Why is this even a question as if it's a reasonable argument? By your argument, since when you already have evidence of 'straight' sexuality (hell, those people may even be bi! or otherwise queer), does that mean we're all playing an erotica?
