Using it on an ult would be pointless, though. They can't tune it so that you can only survive with PLD's ability or PLD would be broken. You have plenty of time to get everyone back to full before the boss shows back up so having that extra mitigation really doesn't do anything except potentially save MP if (for some reason) the ult hits so hard that you saved the healer an extra AOE heal... and that's highly improbable.

e: Sorry, to clarify, you might as well use it on an ult since it's even more useless elsewhere.
