That doesn't make sense. Let's use math.
I'll make it easy.
Good Player: 2000 dps. Bad Player: 1000 dps. Current Egi 400 dps.
Good Player + Egi = 2400 dps
Bad Player + Egi = 1400 dps
Let's say that the Egi did a higher % of dmg. Let's say 50% of the Player's damage for fun (edit: and because it's easy reading).
Good Player + 50% Egi = 3000 dps
Bad Player + 50% Egi = 1500 dps
There was a difference of 1500 dps vs 1000 dps from the first scenario (in case you can't math). Strange. By your logic the bad player gap and good player gap should have decreased. I mean. It's like the good summoner got better and the bad summoner just got barely better. But because the good summoner got SO MUCH better, the bad summoner looks even worse by comparison.

Regardless of how pet-centric the prospective or current SMN population may want the job to be, SE has specifically made pets a thing within the job. And they have done so with all the fluidity of Wanderer's Minuet on release (a far cry from the livable clunkiness that is current WM). They are slow to respond, especially in movement, incapable of jumping or replacing queued skills in favor of ones for which timing is more crucial, have shit AI, cannot aim a knockback, can scarcely chase, and take up two otherwise piss-dull on-cooldown caster-synergetic skills, Spur and Rouse, just to use the third and only interesting caster-synergetic skill, Enkindle.I think they just need to make a whole new job called "Beastmaster"... because that appears to be what some of you want...
You some of you don't want the classic Final Fantasy Summoner... you want a Beastmaster instead... or a Petmaster class.
Those are not Classic FF Summoner or Summons.
On top of that those will wreck the current Summoner job in a way that will torque off the general Summoner population (who plays the job now)... in THIS game.
While I understand superficially linking different naming conventions to make it more Summoner Thematic, and perhaps a graffical upgrade...
... in no way can I possibly justify any kind of major mechanical rework of the job from the ground up, either Lore wise or Gameplay wise.
The class is powerful, viable, and fun to play.
I doubt that allowing for mechanical improvements to that system, while it might pave the way for a more pet-centric or -synergetic job in the future, or offering more interesting alternatives to Spur and Rouse would be met negatively by most other Summoner mains...
You added the 150% egi value to an already existent 100% egi value on the Good player, but then added a number that is neither the egi value nor 150% the egi value to the bad player... Also, the issue is the ratio, not the flat value difference.Good Player + 50% Egi = 3000 dps
Bad Player + 50% Egi = 1500 dps

1000 vs. 2000. 2.00x
+ 400 each
1400 vs. 2400. 1.71x
(+50%, or 150%, egi damage) +600 each
1600 vs. 2600. 1.63x
To continue further:
(200% egi damage)
1800 vs. 2800. 1.55x.
(300% egi damage)
2200 vs. 3200. 1.45x.
Any increased shared offset will reduce the proportional difference between two varying sets.
Increasing both values by the same non-zero number would never give the same ratio as before the number was added. (2000:1000; 3000;1500)
Honestly I'm with you on this.In 3.0, however, Trance has given SMN a very active and fun feel to me with some consistently big numbers and exciting burst phases, while BLM, even though the numbers are still very big and exciting, feels like I'm always on the edge of my seat terrified of losing Enochian and is therefore now less fun.
This is a seriously fun part of being a SMN. While I liked it back in ARR... 3.0 and Heavensward really made everything fun to play.
Has anyone seen any reference to the new abilities the SMN will get in Stormblood?
Honestly even if we only got another 3 stacks of Aetherflow to Deathflare with I'd probably still be happy with it because I could still have a blast Deathflaring the crap out of things.
But it would be cool to get some new things to spend Aetherflow stacks on.
Lol. So.. Bahamut? Holy crap :P
Pretty cool looking :3
