Questions regarding house moving feature

I think you're expecting way too much if you expect there to be a refund for your current plot using the Move feature.

I will politely ask that people refrain from too much venting/personal gribe against this feature. These questions are genuine questions that myself and likely many others would like to know as early as possible to allow us sufficient time to prepare.

Again, I am asking for answers. Holding no expectations - just want to be prepared.

Leave your personal gripe toward people who have invested in the housing system at the door. This thread isn't a topic about that - it's an attempt to get information on the expansion over and above butt sliders.

All we know so far is that all it will cost the price of the new plot. No refund. But we dont know if it will be for FCs only. I hope not. If its the same size house everything will move as is. If its a bigger house everything goes into "storage" so you dont lose anything.

As for the "FC only" comment.. I could be wrong but I don't believe that to be the case - as when it was mentioned for FCs, I believe he was speaking in a generalised sense. Also stated that apartments could be moved also - which indicates some degree of private housing to be included. It would be strange to me if they allowed apartments but not private estates to be moved.

I wish they'd actually confirm whether it'll be limited to FC housing, or if private housing will be allowed to use this moving feature as well.

Yeah I further read into this as well after my last post. Apparently I missed a whole tonne of these Q&A's. I guess it wasn't a big focus for the guys translating live at the time :P

It seems strange to me that they would charge the full price of a new plot without any form of refund for the move - however if you were to let your house fall down (45 days of inactivity) you get refunded 80% of the price you paid for the plot..

Consider it a real-time house swap. Currently if you decide on a whim you want a house that's open when you already own one, you have to relinquish the plot immediately (no refund) and then risk losing the new plot in the meantime and being left with no plot in the end (even more of a hassle if it's an fc house). With this it's essentially the same on-a-whim deal but there's the speed of not having to deal with relinquishing the old plot as well as the safety net of still having a house if someone else beats you to the punch.

The difference is you choosing to demolish your old house or the system doing it without your consent. The 80% of the price paid is compensation if that happens and people are just using that to their advantage to get money back, but that's not what it was designed for which is why you won't get any back on moving either.

Under-rated post.

Its pretty straight forward, if you own a plot with an estate on it, this move feature saves you from loosing your current plot, because prior to move you must demolish and relinquish (now anyone can buy your plot) this way the system does it for you as you stand at the new plot to purchase, saving you the prior steps plus moving your character to the new housing area, you'd most likely get beaten to it and then loose out and have to buy another plot you didn't want. As for the old plot purchase cost, i don't see why they would return your gil, this would open up a new can of worms, players buying and selling plots and making 100% profits, nobody would be getting a house then without paying someone else first...
