My ping went from 150 to 430 on the East Coast so I'm.. ; ; I might have to give up raiding for a while.

That sounds both very strange and a little unbelievable.
Your ISP sounds horrible. Might want to jump ship to a better company.
If not, consider using a VPN such as WTFast or Pingzapper which will likely solve your issue.
Unless I'm not doing it right.
Ping statistics for 195.82.50.9:
Minimum = 465ms, Maximum = 556ms, Average = 501ms
Ping statistics for 204.2.229.9:
Minimum = 271ms, Maximum = 545ms, Average = 411ms
Ping statistics for 204.2.229.10:
Minimum = 348ms, Maximum = 532ms, Average = 454ms
My ISP is the only one available in my area, I can't get anything else. I shouldn't have to pay for an alternate program either on top of a monthly sub for a game.
If I'm running the ping wrong though, someone please let me know!
Isn't this exactly what many players on the West Coast, Oceania, and South America have had to do for the past 4 years?
From what I'm reading, most of the people from the West coast talking about ping started out at 150 and, for the most part, went down from there. So..
Edit:
And no, no one should have to pay to have a better gaming experience. That should be up to the company we're PAYING for the game. They make enough money to have things more balanced.
Your ISP is routing you to some wonky places by the looks of it. Though I am not all that knowledgable in this area.Unless I'm not doing it right.

It's not SE's doing here. It's your ISP.
It's almost like saying "I don't want to upgrade my potato computer to play a modern game. I want the latest games to run on my 233mHz Pentium 2."
If you were getting 150ms while living on the east coast, then that should be proof enough, as you should have been sub-100 to begin with.
The only way around this is a VPN. $4 per month for pingzapper. Best investment you can make if you really care about your gaming.
$4 is less than a pack of cigarettes or a beer. Per month. Just trying to put that into perspective.
No offence intended here but I don't buy this whole "I don't want to pay for another service on top of my sub to play a game". If you care enough about playing then the added cost of $4 per month shouldn't be an issue. I have been doing this since pre-2.0 and I never thought twice about it after I started using it.

It IS an issue for everyone who has to PAY for an ADDITIONAL program to play a game with multiple servers. I pay for multiple retainers because apparently the servers can't handle more free retainers. So I pay for additional space and now I have to pay 4$ more to be able to proper heal and dodge? No, that's not happening. It shouldn't have to happen to ANYONE. It's not just me. NO ONE should have to deal with that and it's garbage that, as big as SE is, this is a problem across the board.
You're missing the entire point.It IS an issue for everyone who has to PAY for an ADDITIONAL program to play a game with multiple servers. The issue is actually on your side, not SE's.
The issue is YOUR problem.
You can't blame SE for a shonky ISP.
SE should not be expected to move the server next to your house, just because your ISP gives you issues.
In a perfect world, everyone would play the game with 0ms. However unfortunately the way the world works isn't all sunshine and rainbows and sometimes you have play with higher ping, or make compromises and invest more in doing something you enjoy than other people do.
Players have been enjoying this game in much worse situations than you're currently in. WITH pingzapper I was playing on your ping. Though I had no complaints. Not because I have a shonky / fixable issue (ISP) but I had a non-fixable issue (physical location in the world).
Your issue can be fixed. You should be happy that is the case - not raging that you can't be bothered to.

I get under 200. From Finland. The comparison to trying to play on potato was good one. To play internet game you need to have proper equipment for it which includes reasonable internet connection. If the server location they now have gives half a ping to a person double your distance, it's on you.
If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
For some people an additional $4/month actually is an issue. For you it apparently wouldn't be a problem. I could easily afford it too, but for some people that extra cost really would be a problem.No offence intended here but I don't buy this whole "I don't want to pay for another service on top of my sub to play a game".
