I just hope they say something reasonable for us.
Why limit it to 7 days? I say they should allow moves for at least a month (post SB) but ideally they should give all the bonuses they're talking about introducing for transfers (exp etc). For those with a house they should get a voucher for an identical house on either the new EU servers (when they come) or for an equivalent in the new housing sector after 4.0 with a guarantee of a house via being the only ones able to buy during Early Access. It'll annoy a lot of people but we are suffering.

I jumped to a reasonable 80 with the move, but my friend is at 150 (we're both in NA). He doesn't want to pay for a VPN on top of a monthly sub for an enjoyable experience so he may well unsub.

100-200 ping is not the end of the world. Many people play with worse. But THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED ALTOGETHER. That's what really grinds my gears. We knew our ping would increase and we were okay with that. I'm okay playing at 80 now- I just have to get used to a little more input lag. But he's not having a good time and if he decides it's not worth paying for any more, then I will probably leave too. "Technically playable" and "enjoyable to play with" are two very different things.

SE, do you guys have any comments on this? Any response as to why you went with one extreme over another instead of a more central location?

the real issue is that people with increased pings are noticing this issue more:

SE can very well make it more enjoyable by getting rid of these pointless delays

I think your problem is you're pinging unassigned IPs. Try 204.2.229.10 and 204.2.229.9 instead.

I think it's funny how people are threatening to boycott the game just because their ping went up. For anyone saying that you can't raid with a ping of over 200 or that a ping of 260 is bad or that 350 is unplayable, now you know how people from Australia feel. Yet we still have people that raid and do it without whinging that we'll boycott unless we get a server with less than 100 ping.

Y'all need to stop being so mad and crying for refunds just because you have to react a fraction of a second faster. I've played for four years with a ping of 375 and it just teaches you to dodge quicker and learn content better. I can dodge mechanics on my "unplayable" ping that other people get hit by just by learning the content better. Remember all the Landslide complaints back in the day? While those people were complaining with their sub-200 ping some of us with almost double that managed to do it without too much hassle.

    Sincerely,
'Someone loving their newfound 215 ping' <3

At least for EU players negatively affected by the move, Stormblood's release could be a good time to move to EU servers, since there are new ones opening up and free transfers implemented (along with other features to make transferring easier).

If they had said "we're moving the NA data center to better accommodate Oceanic players" then I would have been understanding even though it sucks for me. But this was supposed to make it better just for NA. That being the case, then taking a page from Riot's book and moving to Chicago or Dallas would have been more in line with those objectives. Moving to Cali just flip-flops who gets shafted.

I'm sorry that you have to play with 200+ ping, but your acceptance of it is not a reason for the rest of us to shush. My friend is now playing with 150 and spikes into ~190, and while it IS PLAYABLE, it is NOT ENJOYABLE. We all deserved better and SE let us down.

Agreed, I only said that because it can make some aspects unplayable (people dying before Lustrate heals someone) this has more to do with the coding, not the ms increase, it is just the increase makes the faulty coding more noticeable.

Here is what I want to point out and how I feel not enough research was given. It increased the east coast enough where it effected rotations, in south America it changed the game to unplayable. So SE is not aware of the time tight rotations people do to know or not if 30 ms >100 ms = means some jobs are no longer possible to optimize? So how can he say as long as it is under 200 ms it is fine and have "no discernable difference in gameplay" when 30ms to 100 is effecting rotations? They do not know the bad coding effects things that much. Some people are going to say it is fine, because they do not know to notice (or care) of the clipping that can happen esp trying to double weave in 100 ms. After the second ogcd, the follow up GCD will be clipped slightly doing that with that ping. MCH and NIN (as far as i know ) REALLY suffer from this.

This is more trying to tell SE it does effect us since they clearly did not know, based on what I quoted, and hope they really take a look at coding for SB. (and maybe move the servers to Texas for 5.0)

"with WTFast I was able do a wildfire rotation without any clipping. Not only did I see it not clip but it was quite clear when I had 2 sec left on wildfire letting me to pull down gauss and put in an extra ws" With my normal speed I clipped an ocd and even though I did fit everything in the wildfire, it blew up after the last ws, meaning I could not put in a gauss off ws like I could with WTFast. 70 ping to 120 ping is very noticeable with this game and makes the statement 'no discernable difference in gameplay' a false one. To me that means the game needs to be coded better. I am not paying 9.99 on top of my sub and overpriced retainers over game shortcomings, please improve the coding"

As for the PC not detecting it I was told it wouldn't because how its run through wt's vpn
