I would take it as "BAU." about 4 hours ago the lobby wasn't pingable. It now is.
The servers responding most likely means they are in the final phase of testing before going live. probably near the 48hr mark or shortly after depending on how the tests work out

I'm in Los Angeles and I'm getting 23ms. Ran another tracert, and it still shows Sacramento as the furthest point at 23ms.
So much for putting it closer to the middle of the country, Sacramento it is. my ping on the east coast quadrupled to 120 ms so that's lovely, and I feel bad for anyone in europe playing on Aether now

Im glad i didnt bought sb or extended my subscription , its literally unplayable for anyone on south america and you gave us no option to transfer or whatever , people from eu might be incredibly happy aswell.
Ps:im a new player and i actually look at server pings and stuff , and the only reason i started playng ff is because by what i read devs seemed to care about the comunity but on my first month of play i have to face that i coudnt be more disapointed , you guys could at least give a free transfer for people from other nationalities

I really don't understand how the South Americans get a worse ping. (Aside from its Eastern side perhaps). Because now it's further south from its origination and further west. Should be some better pings going on.
Ah well not that it matters to me. My pings got extremely better. From 200+ now down to 50-100.

It's not really to do with geographical distance but more to do with the quality & number of physical Internet connections between the two points. First example, from the UK to the US East Coast is a single high-speed connection (3,500 miles, very fast, low latency [ping]) yet New York to Los Angeles (2,500 miles) has maybe 6 jumps & is much slower with a high latency. The intra-US networking appears, to me, to be terrible cross country.I really don't understand how the South Americans get a worse ping. (Aside from its Eastern side perhaps). Seems it's the end for me too, and glad I didn't pre-order SB yet because now I'm really considering quitting for real. My ping is over 350ms now from Viña del Mar, Chile. Wasn't THAT bad on the old servers, now it's unplayable.Im glad i didnt bought sb or extended my subscription , its literally unplayable for anyone on south america and you gave us no option to transfer or whatever , people from eu might be incredibly happy aswell.

Naoki Yoshida:
Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/113554 at 1:14:22...Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

This has got to be the worst place they could have moved the DC to.

This is the largest garbage ever. i'm playing since ffxiv on NA server all my friends are here, my static etc. I can't raid with a ping from 180 to 230 ... im so annoyed. I could punch through my damn screen.
