Transfer Restrictions and Roleplayers

I have written this on the Hydaelyn Roleplay Forums, so I will write it here as well (maybe not as elegant cause of the word limitation), but we do have a thriving, growing community also on Mateus. The LS originally designed to help start this houses 90+ unique members (not alts) and around 20-30 on at any given time. This does not count also the roleplayers who are roaming around the lands a well. We have around 5 known Free Companies dedicated to RP and several others that are unknown to us on the Linkshell.

Mateus is a low pop server, it has the room to grow and develop into something amazing, and we are seen as a bit of a sister RP server to Balmung, as we were created for this very reason-- to help take some of the pressure off the bigger RP server. So, if you like to come check us out. Please do.

Its more than that, its also the connections. I mean, what if you got married in-game and your significant other doesn't want to transfer servers? What happens then, exactly?

I actually had to make this decision myself not too long ago. I caved and followed hubby to Balmung. :P I guess you have to make a choice that's best for you? If that means staying put, or going elsewhere, that's up to the individual. Far be it from me to insist anyone else do what I had to.

Creating a new community of over 100 people is harder than creating a new FC out of the ashes of another. It can be done but the amount of time and effort is not one many can put into. It becomes a thankless job.

I'm more wondering why they can't split Gilgamesh and Balmung from the same Data Center as they're the high population congested worlds that cause issues for Aether in the first place.

Angry people because his server has a few hours long que is way scarier to SE than anything else. If they could get away forcing transfers outside of Balmug they would do in a second.

It can't really help that under the FC Directory their website has Balmung, Gilgamesh, and Others. I'd say get in contact with the Site Admin and see if they can't add a tab for each individual server. It'd probably help out a ton.

Conversation are already underway on this. Right now they are restricted by 2010 software and when things get upgraded they will be doing some shifts.

They will be already giving Mateus its own tag to aid until that time, once one of the admins gets back from their trip vacation (cause life first and all that)

One of the fundamental issues I'd like to have an answer for is this: does Square Enix know why Balmung is overpopulated? Are they even aware that a roleplaying community exists in NA and EU, and that the desire for a large roleplaying community is why Balmung is overpopulated? Or is server population purely a numbers game for them based off of their metrics?

I would argue that the fundamental issue behind Balmung's population is the lack of segregation, in terms of people who consider themselves RPers and people who don't consider themselves RPers.

A lot of criticisms seem to be operating under the idea that Balmung is filled to the brim with RPers and absolutely no one else. If that were the case, then there'd be no issue and it'd be fine to let natural spillover take the reins, but that's not the case when it's fairly easy to infer that there's a tentatively balanced split between people who don't consider themselves RPers and people who do.

There's no downside that I can see to segregating RPers away from people who don't consider themselves RPers, most easily with an officially designated RP server.

It got to a point where some people were upset that the other servers that posted would become either inactive or were barren. People from those communities wouldn't keep their info updated; they'd quit; or they'd just have just the one and never another LS or FC on that server.
