It seems that for us, our ping went to 150-200 avg to 230 - 300 from most ppl I have talked to. As we don't have any options, since EUR data center is about the same if not worse and there is 0% chance for us to get a server ever. What are you guys planning to do? Move to EUR? Pay more money to try use a VPN to get what we were used? Stop playing altogether?
I hear you. I wouldn't want to support a company that uses money to expand its service, upgrade to new technology and allow for new features like expanded inventory, more housing (and bigger / more zones), etc. either. Were you someone who cheered when they announced the end of PS3 support for the growth of the game? I'm sure people quit because they didn't want to support that. The middle of the states would have been ideal, but a lot of factors had to be considered, no doubt. Modern facilities, rooms, deals, etc. After all, they're still on a development budget. Plus they seem to be doing things with transfers as well as implementing universal friends lists, fcs and party mechanics. The old center dropped a lot of players on the west on an hourly basis for the first year (and beyond). Gave them massive pings due to obsolete facilities and packet drops. Though they still persevered and didn't spout rhetoric about "that kind of behavior".
I'll just chalk it up to human nature and the need to adapt to new information. While not ideal (and what is?), there's nothing legitimately wrong with "this" behavior. Though I do understand that you're upset by something and can sympathize the need to adapt. If you enjoy the game, then just simply play it.

I'm from Brazil and I play in a PS4.
I can't use proxy programs to help with better ping.
My ping now is 205 with the new server. It's so sad. =(
But I'll keep playing and see if changes doing EX and Savages. Not planning to stop.
You might take shit for this but it's true.
What I think a lot of people here don't understand is that because of how low the ticrate is in this game, a small latency increase can actually result in things getting delayed by several hundred milliseconds. Imagine you have a bus stop and a bus closes its doors and departs exactly every 10 minutes. If you miss the bus by 1 minute, you're not just 1 minute late to your destination, you're 10 minutes late because you won't be departing until the next bus leaves. Every bit of latency you add shrinks the window for getting on the bus in time, until at a certain threshold you are frequently or even always missing the bus.
I don't speak a lick of jp and I don't have any friends there.^for people who get the short straw as in really bad latency
Cant you guys just pay a char transfer to different server? I remember someone from other thread said the new server location is for half of NA server, while the other half still located in the original location or at least something like that
Or you can try the jp server? Maybe you get better ping
If you really end up in jp server, just remember that we have different custom/tradition/approach when in party and socializing =D
Really thinking about what I'll do next. While we can use a VPN to get a bit of improvement, with our currencies, at least in Brazil, its basically playing a second monthly subscription price. I went from 170 to 235, and as someone who raid, 235 is REALLY really hard to accept, specially in progression. I'm still waiting to see if Yoshi and SE team will say something, but at now I lost all my motivation, even thinking about canceling my SB pre-order and all.
I'm not great at geography but didn't the servers used to be in like Canada or something? If so I'd have thought you were better off now cos I thought California is closer to Brazil than Canada lol.
