Look, Gravity Boots, even Yoshi supposedly attacked FFXI players in the RPGSite interview. It's just basic common knowledge that most of the people that don't want jump are those that are veterans of FFXI. You should start an activist group if you're so heated about feeling the way you do.

Not really -- There's a big difference between saying:

"FFXI players are holding this game back (I.e Zaireeka2025)"

    and

"FFXI players are used to not being able to jump (i.e Yoshida.)"

One is an attack, one is an observation.

common knowledge that most of the people that don't want jump are those that are veterans of FFX
I'm a veteran of FFXI, know which other MMOs I currently play?

Eden Eternal (Guess what you can do there?)
Rift (Guess what you can do there?)
Rappelz (Guess what you can't do there?)
WoW (Guess what you can do there?)
    Air Rivals
Ragnarok Online (Guess what you can't do there?)

It's those of you who attack FFXI players that feels everyone is against, especially when my specific stance is I don't see a need for it unless it serves a purpose, which at present time, it doesn't, because what you would use jump for one, XIV has no need for it at present time, i.e getting up cliff faces? They temporarily removed detection so you can scale it, keyword: Temporarily.

Battle implementation? XIV wasn't designed to have jump factored in, which mean it would have to be part of a pretty big mechanical change, which is why Yoshida himself stated it was being considered and looked into. Just programming in jump doesn't automatically give it 1001 uses -- You have to program around it -- Thus why my stance is I see it as a pointless addition currently.

it may be true that a majority of the people who dont want jump play FFXI, and i dont actually know this for a fact, im just going by what i see. i myself am a FFXI veteran and dont want jump. but we have a better reason for why we dont like jump then just, "FFXI didnt do it so we dont want it". i also agree with Jennestia about how FFXI veterans are being attacked by a number of the players that are for jump. and that should be left out of the conversation because that just doesnt help anyone

i specifically referenced FFXI in an earlier post because of the immersion. it does actually break the immersion if alot of people were jumping all over the place, just to clarify.
thats part of why i didnt like WoW or any of the other games. nothing against them, it just wasnt my type of game.
FFXI had a distinct feeling of being in another world and thats what i personally like most of all.

and sorry if this sounds alittle stupid but the way i see it, is that there are enough games out there that do everything you guys like. bunny hop, riding mounts of all kinds of creatures, swimming. and other things, so why doesnt everyone just play those games. there arent many mmos out there that keep people immersed in a believable world, and i would prefer to keep one of those, then to change it into something thats just like everything else.
again, thats just my personal opinion
