Seems it would, since people will keep attacking and blaming people who play FFXI, mostly due to their own dislike for the product (no other reason to continually attack the fact someone plays a specific MMORPG.)

I'm going to repost this as a response to meeting halfway (I'm pretty sure most will agree with me on these):
My vision for jump:
~Have it so that players can jump whenever they want/need, but make it realistic and in-tune with the current high quality animation style. This means a fairly instant jump upon button activation, but ending with a nice smooth landing animation which needs to finish its cycle before being able to spam it again. This would avoid what FFXI players fear the most in terms of incessant bunny hopping.
~Have jump actually coincide with the design of 2.0 so that there could be reasons to jump (i.e. in dungeons over pitfalls that could drop us a level below). Falling from heights too high would hurt our HP (like in Zelda), but cliffsides should still have invisible walls (no need to fall off cliffs since this would only be an instant death hassle).
~If jumping was to be implemented into battles (this one's for you Jynx), they shouldn't be regular jumps but instead dodging rolls in all directions.
~If/when swimming is added, let us climb (yes, climb) up ladders/vines to high ledges and swan dive into the water. This would be awesome as an entrance to an instanced dungeon.
~Allow us to jump while on chocoback, but let us glide down to the ground with certain (black) chocobos.

Reasonable...but wait:
Which goes right back to what I said:
You could have easily made your opinion without yet again attacking the fact someone plays a specific MMORPG. Those 'FFXI players' can't have a "fear of incessant bunny hopping" if their argument is surrounding the fact they play FFXI, a game without jump.

You love playing the FFXI victim. Nobody is attacking FFXI. I used to be one. We're just stating the obvious; including Yoshi, so tell it to him while you're at it!
"Yoshida: A lot of the Japanese players of XIV that only know about that game as well as FFXI, so they’re used to having a character that can’t jump. They don’t realize that you can jump in every other MMO in the world, so they have that aversion to it.
It’s not only Japan though. If you look at our forums, there are a lot of people, even in North America, who don’t want the jumping feature." -RPGSite Interview

No one said XI is being attacked, it's the people who play FFXI being attacked. Just read this thread:
"FFXI players are why we can't have jump"
"FFXI players are holding this game back"
Even you stated at one point:
So no one said the game is being attacked, it's the fact people keep continually spouting off "FFXI players this" and "FFXI players that".

Because people that don't want jump are usually those that stick by FFXI's core mechanics. It's what they fell in love with and want it to resonate. I do too, but jump isn't going to break that perpetuating feel either. If it makes you feel better, than I will stop saying FFXI players if you will stop acting the victim. No one said XI is being attacked, it's the people who play FFXI being attacked. From now on: Magnet Boots vs Bunny Rabbits.
Regardless, this doesn't help the debate at all so stop trying to veer this conversation into a "FFXI players are being attacked" argument. We all love FFXI. But its you conservatives that consider yourselves too good for jump simply because "it looks stupid!" Derp.

How can you steer something into what it started out as? Just read this topic -- it started out by slandering FFXI players lol, you likely just chose to ignore it because you yourself also attack FFXI players.

Look, Gravity Boots, even Yoshi supposedly attacked FFXI players in the RPGSite interview. It's just basic common knowledge that most of the people that don't want jump are those that are veterans of FFXI. You should start an activist group if you're so heated about feeling the way you do.
How can you attack people doing the same thing as you? Many of us who have made comments about XI players being too wrapped up in the past ALSO played and loved XI. It's the same thing as someone who likes anime calling a weeaboo a weeaboo. Just because you like anime does not make you a weeaboo. Pretending to be Japanese, being obsessed with the culture when you've only read about it, throwing "kawaii" out like a "baka" because you think it makes you sound cool... all of these things are defining traits of a weeaboo. People can have a genuine interest in Japanese culture and language and not be weeaboos. People who obsess about that culture when they generally only know it through video games and anime, but definitely have no 100% first-hand experience, are the weeaboos.
Most of us talking about XI players, are talking about the weeaboo counterparts. The ones who obsess over XI, thinking it was the perfect game and there were no aspects that should be changed at all. I loved XI, and I miss it pre-abyssea, and really pre-ToAU. However I left for a reason, and huge time sinks, a horrible economy, botting, and many other things were the cause of that. People complaining over a fully optional feature being added that is not hindering their own gameplay at all really have no valid argument besides, "Cuz I don't wanna."

Zaireeka, just drop it with Jannesta. It doesn't matter how much sense you are making with your argument. If he doesn't agree with your opinion he will find something you say and pick and pick and pick at it. At this point he is grasping at straws and is trying to make you out as victimizing a category of forum posters. He has nothing to contribute and his posts have nothing to do with the op. Its best just to ignore him at this point.Because people that don't want jump are usually those that stick by FFXI's core mechanics. It's what they fell in love with and want it to resonate.
