The people you're responding to seem to understand how the system works, and they want it changed. Even the person you quoted acknowledges people are requesting for a change in how ranking is currently enforced;

Is there a way to fix this? Honestly, the best way would be to implement what folks are asking for: enforce the ranking hierarchy that is implied.

I hope this post of mine helps remind everyone that you should go make another topic "Promotion/Demotion needs reworked" and try to get an official response from SE (instead of cramming it in this thread that is titled "100m gil taken (((but I gave them the promote/demote permission not knowing how it works, and the person promoted themselves up and took the gil. Please add a confirmation box for every single permission in the FC making me acknowledge I know how this works, since I can't be bothered to look up how a permission works on a multitude of websites!))) ). Quite a few said they were going to start one but I'm still waiting! Here is your daily reminder!

Me? nah. I'm not the one being willfully ignorant either (or a troll in your case). I said for the last few pages to make a topic regarding exactly promotion/demotion. People like to post topics at least once a week about getting robbed in one way or another in a FC (usually stemming around the promote/demote option or being willfully ignorant on how many days it takes before lead passes). If you make the said topic, they would have a lot better chance of getting a response from square. I said it once and I'll say it again, I believe it needs to be fixed, but the chances of getting a dev reply here is slim since no one wants to make a topic about promote / demote. Till the next topic regarding this same situation - cya.

S.O.L. sorry but our FC bank has 52m in for a big house, I never even tried to take gil out till the other day when I found out I could.

On that same note. Between my wife and I we have almost as much as the bank.

You are completely right here with the opted solution solution. To answer your potential first question, assuming it wasn't rethoric, the game imho doesn't make it clear at all how it works. No tutorial, tooltip or proper warning/safeguard designed. I would argue the use of the word 'rank' even stimulates thinking of the system as being a hierarchy. Allow me to link the Cambridge definition: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/rank

"a particular position, higher or lower than others"

Of course a bit below is this one and perhaps this is the one the localisation went for:

"a row, especially of people or things standing side by side"

Perhaps if they had called it something like 'role' or 'job' some of the initial confusion would have been avoided, though I still suspect some would have made the mistake purely because of the abundance of other games that do use a hierarchy in their guild systems. I would just say the process of proper encoding on dev side and decoding on players' side is a bit out of whack here. It's even more sad some *ahum* twats decide to abuse it and inflict so much harm on people like the OP. It's a very unfortunate cascading failure that took place here, starting with something so simple.


Edit: A forgive me, I see you already pointed this out in the follow up thread. I hadn't read further in this thread before making this post

Edit2: I just noticed that if you want to change the settings, the option is even called "hierarchy settings"... :/
